'American Idol' auditions under way

Categories: Music, News, Television

Auditions for the ninth season of the megasensation American Idol began this weekend outside Boston. According to the Associated Press, over 7,000 would-be stars withstood long lines in lousy weather for their shot at stardom. Thousands more are expected to audition in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Orlando and Denver over the coming weeks.

Does that mean that we know for sure which judges are coming back next year? Somebody confirm!

  • Crud

Only 7000? Doesn’t AI auditions usually run in the 10,000+ range? Could it be the rain, the city, or just plain waning of the series itself….

Adam Lambert our ICON for this generation, can’t help but love him, sexy isn’t the word gay or not, he is bi-curious, hmmm. We’ll see. And he’s never been love? And see everybody loves him not in that way but we do love him for the way he just is. He is genuine, and Kris who? Notice that Adam is everywhere and all these years the IDOL has gotten the cover of the Rolling Stone? What is the deal? He is going to be dust in the wind like Taylor Hicks!

7000+ is still alot of people! The issue was that there was lousy weather here and the fact that the Idol producers were dumb to take it all the way out to Foxboro at Gillete stadium instead of keeping it in the city where it wld be more accessable – they could have used the BankNorth Garden or Fenway Park for auditions… My roommate is a FANTASTIC singer and would be great on the show but we didn’t go because we live in Boston and didn’t want to drive that 45min + commute all the way down to Foxboro to stand in crappy weather

Test one two three, is my comment is working?

Gee, I guess a 45+ commute (and a little rain) is WAY too much trouble for what could be a life career in song.

Just another reason to hang my head in shame that I am from Boston….7000 fools show up to audition for this drek…..if being a blue state run by crooks wasn’t bad enough….

  • Mark

I have to agree with Stacy on this. I don’t see how driving 45 minutes and standing in the rain is a problem when you’re talking about a life-changing chance? I mean, don’t you think Kris Allen is glad he didn’t think like that?? And to Mike..if you hate Idol so much and think it’s “drek” why do you bother reading about? And why live in a state that you hate so much? I don’t get people and their complaints. All we ever do is moan, groan, whine, complain…blah blah blah.

I was there, and it was amazing! The rain was annoying, but it forced people to get to know one antoher a bit better, as the sharing of umbrellas was a neccesity! So fun. Even though I didnt make it, it was still an great experience. If you dont like the show I still reccomend participating if you can, as it is truly an amazing experience!

Marry & Adam: we won’t know what judges are back until a week from today. Judging from past seasons, first there’s a cattle call over the weekend (in this case 7,000 people) then thats taken down to about 250 people who have to come back to sing for the judges which takes place about a week after the cattle call. Only then will we know who is still judging.

  • Karikata

We wont know the judges til a week from today. The people who make it past the cattle call (which is usually about 250 people) don’t see the judges until a week after the first audition. During this time the producers figure out who they’re going to embarrass and who will have a “great” story to tell so that they can follow them around and feature them throughout the show (think Danny Gokey).

AI in Boston! What a joke. Boston sucks. Doubt there is much talent these days from such a looser state. Bunch of pompus ass’s that can’t speak properly with attitudes from hell!

  • lambertfan

It wasn’t Boston, it was a crappy city call Foxboro. I went with my daughter who was told that she was too theatrical. We drove 4 and 1/2 hours for that. The only consolation was going to Boston the next day. Loved it there and want to go back.

My God I can’t wait to see the Audition time next week, I am sure there’s a lot of crazy auditioners and ones which means the judges will enjoy those poor applicants which came from different places, ops!

  • MINA

Anyway, the more the judges critize the applicants the more they want to be in the final, I mean it’s a challenge for them right, I like Simon and he is the best of them

  • kaydene

hey i hope they come back i love to watch simon
