Forced myself to watch Lettermen last night. It was horrible. His band leader is a joke. He had these sunglasses on that made him look ridiculicus. All he does is make sounds in his mike when Lettermen is giving his boring monologe. He contributes nothing. Zero! There is not one reason to watch a late-show talk show. All the guests do is pump their latest garbage and the hosts “try” to be funny. Go to bed. There’s more action there then on late-night.

My “red-head” comment was a joke. It went over about as well as Conan’s.
What is with these side-kicks? Have we not had enough of them? Why can’t the hosts just do their jobs and interview interesting guests who are not just on the show to promote their next project? What a joke. That is what is funny about the current late-night shows.
Ed McMahon was unique to Johnny Carson. His success should not have been a model for other shows. Now everything is focused around the host and his side-kicks and not about guests and musicial groups.
One of the reasons why the guests do so poorly is because not many of them have much to offer. And the hosts do nothing to help. Especially Lettermen. He is so full of himself he stinks. Man, doesn’t that guy get it? And Conan? Leno? Please. Now on them have filled Carson’s shoes even if you put all three nutcases together. Whoever produces these shows should find other jobs. They all suck.

I can’t get CBS over digital broadcast in Chicago, so I have to catch Dave and Craig — both the best in the biz — online instead of live. Conan’s still a treat to hang with, but Fallon, despite the efforts of his obviously excellent writing staff, is in WAY over his head. He’s clearly uncomfortable in his own skin, and SO inept at the art of conversation it is truly painful to watch. He may rally someday but as it stands, if he’s the voice of this generation, the future of America looks bleak indeed!

Conan is hilarious, but I havn’t warmed up to “his” Tonight Show yet. I think his audiences have been TERRIBLE. They’ve made at least two interviews (David Duchovny and Dane Cook) more cringe-worthy than funny.
Late Night was great so I have no doubt he’ll turn things around. As of now though, Craig Ferguson is the best of the bunch.

In essence, we’ve lost “The Tonight Show.” What we have now in its place is “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” an hour earlier than before. Same old, same old, just with Andy Richter, O’Brien’s original sidekick when he first started “Late Night,” back onboard. NBC blew it. “Late Night” is even worse. Jimmy Fallon is AWFUL! Oh well – Craig Ferguson is still funny; I’ll just watch him.
