Geek god Peter Jackson, director of the signature fanboy trilogy The Lord of the Rings, will make his first appearance at Comic-Con next month, according to The New York Times. Jackson will appear at the San Diego convention on July 24 to support South African director Neill Blomkamp's District 9, an extraterrestrials-among-us thriller that he produced and that's due for release in theaters in August. The Times reports that the over-extended Jackson has a brief gap in his schedule allowing the visit. Though studios have gone to Comic-Con to promote his previous films like the Rings trilogy and 2005's King Kong, Jackson himself had been squirreled away in his New Zealand editing bay finishing said films.
