Kris Allen will become the latest American Idol champion to perform at the NBA Finals, according to the AP. He'll sing the national anthem prior to Game 2 between the Los Angeles Lakers and Orlando Magic, which airs Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

hm, i wonder if Adam Lambert wouldn’t be a better choice, simply because of the large range. i like kris allen – maybe he’ll rearrange the song or play the guitar with it… anyway, i’ve heard Adam sing it beautifully, during his hometown visit week on idol.
Why think that Adam should sing the national anthem for the NBA finals? When all is said and done, Kris is the American Idol Season 8…not Adam.

I can’t lie, I’m a little nervous for Kris. That’s a really tough song to sing, even for accomplished singers. Kris is talented, but…
It has to be Kris since it’s been the tradition for most AI winners to sing in the NBA Finals. Archie sang at Utah last year but it was not the Finals. There’s no doubt Adam would sing it better, and is a better fit since he’s from California. Oh well, like presidents, we chose the idol we deserve.
I am still laughing at the idea that you are “nervous” for Kris. Do you really think it is his first time singing the National Anthem? Bitterness is so unbecoming.

Looking at your comment and you wonder why people question the motives of people voting for Kris? Your last line says it all. I think Kris will do fine with the National Anthem, he just needs to sing it pure and strong and he’ll be fine. I hope he doesn’t try to change it up to much.
oohh I’m excited to hear that, I’ll probably just tune in for that and that’s it. Any appearance of Kris now that the show is over is good! And man, they have been flying that guy all over the country, back and fourth…
