The AP reports that Stephen Colbert arrived in Iraq today. He will broadcast four episodes of The Colbert Report from Baghdad next week. The comedian had been promoting the trip on his show, but because of caution from the military had been saying only that he was going to the Persian Gulf. (On May 29, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin announced on her Twitter page that she was taping a greeting to the troops for the episodes.) The shows will be taped in front of an audience of troops. It's the first-ever broadcast from Iraq for a USO tour.

Can’t wait to see Colbert from Iraq. What a treat for the troops, the man is hilarious!
Colbert-Good luck, have fun, and be safe!
The troops are in for a real treat!
Should be funny!!! I find it even funnier that Colbert couldn’t say where he was going to be, but the AP is allowed to tell the world!
Got to meet Stephen today! he’s hilarious in person!
like the military doesn’t have enough problems…
Great to see Stephen doing something for our troops. Lots of performers talk about their support for the troops, but not that many actually go to visit them. God bless you Stephen.
I’m going to be at one of the shows that he is doing here in Iraq and we are all stoked to see it. Already met him and he’s excited to do the show too!
Not the first ever. Kathy Griffen did shows from Iraq (Baghdad and Tikrit) three years ago.
what about WWE? They film a show every christmas over there. FACT CHECKING IS AWEEESSSSSOOOOMMMMME.
