According to fansite Collider.com, director Tony Scott has confirmed rumors that his company Scott Free is developing a prequel to the seminal 1979 sci-fi horror film Alien, and that ad helmer Carl Rinsch will direct. "Yes, Carl Rinsch is going to do the prequel to Alien," the site quotes Scott as saying. "He’s one of our directors at our company [Scott Free]." (Scott's brother and business partner, Ridley Scott, directed the first film in the lucrative Alien franchise.) When asked when the new Alien film would go before cameras, Tony Scott reportedly said, "hopefully, the end of the year." Tony Scott's representation and 20th Century Fox, which would presumably release any new Alien film, have yet to respond to EW's requests for comment.

I thought the two Alien vs. Predator movies were prequels…
Oh God, Fox is part of this. That means it will be PG-13 and suck.
