Susan Boyle hospitalized after 'BGT' finals

Categories: News, Television

Hours after falling to second place in the Britain’s Got Talent finals, Susan Boyle was taken by ambulance to a London clinic under police escort for treatment of exhaustion, according to People.com . Britain’s Got Talent producers released the following statement to EW: "Following Saturday night’s show, Susan is exhausted and emotionally drained. She has been seen by her private GP who supports her decision to take a few days out for rest and recovery." The British press has reported that the singer was angry and upset after her defeat in the finals on Saturday night, though in public she appeared gracious, praising the dance troupe, Diversity, who won the competition. Boyle will reportedly be taking some time off to rest following the whirlwind media infatuation with the Scottish singer, who became an overnight celebrity thanks to the YouTube video of her audition performance, which has received some 90 million views since it debuted in April.

Another example of how difficult it is for an ordinary person to cope with sudden and unexpected popularity. I hope she can recover soon.

    Susan get well soon. Neil.

For the record, there is no such thing as a medical diagnosis of “exhaustion”. I’m so sick of people using this vague excuse. My guess is that she had a panic attack. I work 50 hours/week and I’ve never suffered from “exhaustion”.

Poor Susan Boyle. I hope she gets better soon. I blame the rest of the world – especially the killjoys that are the US media. She would have been perfectly fine, had Oprah, the Today Show, Larry King, (etc.) not pounced on something so sweet and talented as her, and run her down to the ground. Feel better, you kooky little beauty you. :)

In regards to Susan Boyle, I’m going to venture a little further and suggest that we may be dealing with a BGT conspiracy that set Susan Boyle up for failure right from the get-go because maybe they did not feel that she was star material; or at least, their kind of star material??
Let’s take Saturday night for example… it was not until 15 minutes before she was to go on stage that her gown FINALLY arrived to BGT’s performance center! So for the last half hour before she was to go up on stage, she was in complete hysterics because she had no idea if her gown would even arrive in time at all for her performance! Just wondering but what outside (or ah hem… inside forces) forces were responsible for the hold up on the delivery of that dress??? Hmmmm
And while we’re on the subject, how is it that BGT even allowed some unscrupulous members of the press to harass her in such a way to cause her to finally give them a piece of her mind? Simon Cowell, let’s hear from you on this OK??

I remember reading that Susan Boyle has learning disabilities, I don’t think people realize that those with learning disabilities can’t handle the stress of an average person, let alone what she’s been through over the past week. Everyone keeps talking about her “tantrums” and “meltdowns.” It’s because she’s overwhelmed. I have a son with mild learning disabilities and I’ve seen it all before. Susan Boyle needs a break from all of the chaos.

I’d be exhausted too if I had to carry 300 lbs of fat everywhere I went.

The saying, “be careful what you wish for” applies here. She wished for recognition/attention/stardom/ and she got it, now she can’t handle it. And they plan on putting her on tour in the U.S. — that’s a nutty idea. Keep her in England, in her comfort zone.
She wouldn’t make it past the judges on AI.

Susan’s next big “hit,” a cover of Patsy Cline’s “Crazy.”
    In stores soon!

It always seemed to me that there was something about Miss Boyle that didn’t seem quite right. She has a childlike demeanor, and I wish more could have been done to protect her from all the frenzy. She was clearly overwhelmed and out of her element, and I don’t understand why those close to her didn’t do more to keep her safe.

I can’t believe all of the nasty remarks on here about Susan. Grow up people.
Why is it that once the media builds someone up on such a pedastal as they did with Susan, that they can’t wait to find ways to clobber her back down again? Susan not only had to deal with the overnight fame and the pressures that come with it, but then she had to deal with all the nastiness that often comes along with that fame. It would be too much for most people to handle well, let alone someone who has been as sheltered as Susan.
    Get well soon Susan.
