According to the Associated Press, 9-year-old Rubina Ali, who played Freida Pinto’s character as a young street orphan, is homeless after city officials demolished her parents’ shanty home. "I’m feeling bad," Ali told the AP. " I’m thinking about where to sleep." Last week, the home of Ali’s young costar Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail was also leveled, in a similar government effort to clean up the slum.
Phil Spector: Prosecutor asks for 19-year sentence
A Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney requested a sentence of 19-years-to-life for legendary music producer Phil Spector, who was convicted last month of second-degree murder in the shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson, the Associated Press reports. Spector, 69, was found guilty on April 13. Clarkson, who had acted in the cult film Barbarian Queen, was killed in the foyer of Spector’s mansion, by a gunshot fired into her mouth, in 2003. Spector’s first trial for the crime ended in a jury deadlock. The conviction came from the second trial.
The maximum sentence for second-degree murder is 15 years, but prosecutor Alan Jackson asked that the judge add four years to Spector’s sentence because the crime included the personal use of a gun. In addition to prison time, Jackson requested that Spector pay a minimum of $26,500 to Clarkson’s family to compensate them for funeral costs and mental health care. The Clarkson family has sued Spector for damages as well. Spector is scheduled to be sentenced on May 29.

'Ghostbusters III' to start shooting next winter?
Dan Aykroyd says that the long-awaited Ghostbusters III may start shooting this winter, with all the original cast members returning, including Sigourney Weaver. But a spokesperson for Sony, which will distribute the film, politely says that Aykroyd may have jumped the gun a little. "We couldn’t be more excited about the way the new Ghostbusters film is coming together, but at this point we are focused on a great screenplay," the spokesperson tells EW. "I can’t comment on specific casting choices because we don’t have a finished script. We love Dan’s enthusiasm and his support, and while we are making progress, we are still just in development on this project." In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Aykroyd essentially confirmed what EW reported from the ShoWest convention in April — that the franchise film is expected to feature a "new generation" of ghostbusters. The Office scribes Gene Stupnitskyand Lee Eisenberg are writing the screenplay. (Additional reporting by Nicole Sperling)

Paramount still hasn’t signed its female lead, though sources tell EW that several actresses — such as Hayden Panettiere and Julianne Hough — have been under consideration. Martin Luther King Jr. biopic: Two children oppose DreamWorks deal
Two of Martin Luther King Jr.’s children have expressed their opposition to the MLK biopic announced Tuesday by DreamWorks and producer Steven Spielberg, according to the AP. DreamWorks described the project as the first movie to be authorized by King’s estate. However, two of King’s children, Bernice King and Martin Luther King III, said the deal was struck by sibling Dexter King without their input. Dexter is the chairman and chief executive officer of the King estate. Bernice and Martin said they would be taking immediate legal action. A DreamWorks representative, contacted by EW, declined to comment other than to say that she doesn’t believe the siblings’ dispute will affect the film’s production.

The documentary will be released later this year, although there’s no word on whether it’ll be shown theatrically.

'Twilight': Robert Pattinson committed to 'Breaking Dawn'
Robert Pattinson has confirmed that he’ll star in Breaking Dawn, the fourth movie in the Twilight franchise — he just doesn’t know when. In Cannes, before heading to Italy to shoot the final four days on New Moon, the actor told The Hollywood Reporter that Summit Entertainment hasn’t been able to set a start date for the final film because of his busy schedule. His plate includes shooting a romantic drama for the studio, Remember Me (formerly known as Memoirs); then wrapping the third Twilight film, Eclipse, this fall; and then joining Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz on the set of Madeleine Stowe’s directorial debut, Unbound Captives, perhaps as early as year’s end.
