The "never-before-seen" footage that Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner will introduce at Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards is, in fact, the first trailer for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, MTV has confirmed. The live ceremony, hosted by Saturday Night Live’s Andy Samberg, will also feature a tribute to Generation Award recipient Ben Stiller, performances by Eminem and Kings of Leon, and other presenters including American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert, Sacha Baron Cohen’s Brüno, and Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint.

I know that MTV probably already knows this, but people are only going to be watching this for Twilight. Well, I guess there are other fans of HP and Transformers that will be watching. But Twilight fans will be making this show. Just saying, sorry to tick people off.

Yeah, because no one had EVER seen or heard of the MTV Movie Awards before the Twilight “saga” came into existence. Get over yourselves.
Thanks, EW, for acknowledging that other people and/or films will also be featured. After they’ve each out-grossed New Moon by about $100 million (as their predecessors out-grossed Twilight), someone can tell the Transformers and HP people that more people like the Twilight series. I’m sure they’ll be very impressed.
The fact that Twilight wasn’t a good film (AT ALL), yet it still grossed as much as it did, says A LOT. And, according to the DVD sales, the Twilight DVD sold as though it was a film that grossed over 260 million (which is around how much the last HP film grossed). It made allll of that money, even though it wasn’t a good movie!
If New Moon is actually a great film (which I think it will be, based on everything I’ve heard and seen so far, ESPECIALLY everything from yesterday), it could BLOW AWAY the box office.
And, obviously the MTV awards have had viewers in the past. However, there’s no doubt (according to people who work at MTV), that Twilighters will make up a LARGE percentage of viewers, and they were a large percentage of voters this year. This isn’t about the Twilight film anymore. This is about New Moon, which hopefully will be a GREAT movie. I have a lot of faith in the film, and I can’t wait for this trailer!

To any haters, there’s no reason for hate in this thread. If you don’t like Twilight, then all you’re doing by commenting on Twilight, is making this ENTIRE thread about Twilight, which just gives it more attention. This news brief mentions more than just Twilight. If you’re not interested in Twilight, why don’t you talk about what you ARE interested in.
Yes, MTV is shilling hard for Twilight. Funny then that Summit is run by an ex-Paramount man, and Paramount owns MTV. Not odd AT ALL.
It’s cool to be excited about trailer premieres, but to act like no one would be watching the awards if it weren’t for New Moon footage is ridiculous and narcissistic. The world existed before Twilight, and will be around long after it’s forgotten.

I love the Twilight books (and I’m a guy!) but the film was atrocious. I have high hopes for this one and am really excited about New Moon, but I haven’t drunk enough Twilight Kool-Aid not to recognize trash when I saw it. The fact that Twilight is up against the Dark Knight and Slumdog in the Best Movie race is ridiculous.
I don’t think that ANYONE is acting like people wouldn’t watch the MTV awards if it wasn’t for Twilight. However, MTV insiders themselves have posted articles ON MTV’s WEBSITE, saying that New Moon is the most hyped film, and the biggest draw right now. So, will a lot of people watch the MTV awards for New Moon? absolutely. (seriously, as someone mentioned below, ALL OF TWITTER crashed yesterday because of the New Moon photos). There’s no doubt that New Moon will be a big draw in terms of viewers of the award show.
However, obviously, the entire show isn’t about New Moon.
I, for one, am really looking forward to the Harry Potter clip as well!

I’m also excited to see Half-Blood Prince clips, too. I’m actually a bigger HP fans, to be honest, but I don’t know why people can’t like both.
And Susa, HP fans crashed AOL last July when the Prince trailer first premiered. Just saying.
Elliot- This isn’t the Oscars. This isn’t about the “best performances”. its MTV. These awards, in reality, mean absolutely nothing. That being said, I want to see Rob and Kristen on stage, so yea, I do want them to win.
About Twilight’s gross at the box office, it shows that Twilight has a VERY passionate fanbase, who were willing to spend that much money on a film that wasn’t even good. If New Moon is captivating and beautiful (which again, I have faith that it will be), I can only imagine how much money it will make at the box office.

I’m also very excited about HP! And, I’m in no way trying to diminish HP’s fanbase. Harry Potter OBVIOUSLY has a huge fanbase!
My point is that MTV articles have clearly stated that New Moon will bring in the most viewers (and brought in the most voters) this year.

Helena: The New Moon trailer is still the most hyped trailer right now. I actually did know that about MTV, and there’s no doubt that they’re pimping out New Moon, but it doesn’t change the fact that New Moon is OBVIOUSLY garnering a lot of attention, and will bring in a lot of viewers.

I’m really, really excited! I’m glad they chose to just premiere the trailer instead of choosing a clip, which would have just caused a bunch of arguing over whether it was the right one to show. LOL
And no offense to MTV, but I’m not sure how they predict (or ever know for certain) how many viewers are Twilight-related, especially beforehand. With repeat voting (I’m sure Twihards are probably stuffing the ballot boxes!), a LOT of votes for Twilight wouldn’t necessarily translate into physical viewers. I’m sure Twilight is going to win a lot of awards (I voted for the film and for Rob!), but it comes off as MTV pandering to me.
That’s a good point Katie. While Twilighters have voted a lot, many of them may not actually watch the show, since all of the Twilight-related moments (and of course the trailer) will be posted online.

I’ll skip the show and watch all the clips (New Moon, HP and Transformers) online afterward. I don’t really want my Nielsen share to be used in a Twilight fan circle jerk touting how many fans contributed to the show’s rating (as if they know for sure; use your brains — they don’t). I love the series, but get annoyed by a lot of the fans. The kind who are so self-centered as to think they’re somehow propping up MTV. Just saying, sorry to tick people off.

That’s funny. Most of the banner ads for the MTV Movie Awards I’ve seen haven’t mentioned the New Moon stuff. Don’t these people know that NO ONE would watch the show if it weren’t for Twilight?! Good lord, they need to alter their banner ads accordingly! It’s not like anyone has ever seen anything with this Andy Samberg fellow in it! Screw Andy Samberg, put Robert Pattinson’s mug on EVERY banner ad, right now!

I’m the biggest Twilight fan I know, and I’ll be drooling over the trailer premiere with everyone else, but everyone here acting like no one would be watching the show if it weren’t for Twilight need to stop drinking the Kool-Aid. I don’t know if you know this, but Transformers made $120 million more than Twilight, and HP5 made like $100 million more than Twilight. So keep your noses out of the air, yeah?
I hope the twilight sequel new moon will find some how any method to elongate Edward’s role. He is one of the plus factor the movie. And talking about excitment level it is rising day by day. Can’t wait any longer for the movie.
I will only be watching the show is for the HBP Clip… So for the people saying that the show is only going to be seen by the twilight clip really need to GROW UP!
Besides… there is also going to be a Transformers trailer… and I am exited for that one too…

I actually haven’t seen a lot of people on here say that Twilight is the “only reason” that people will watch. Clearly, people will watch for a variety of reasons. All that anyone is saying is that MANY Twilight fans voted, so the fact that they’re playing the New Moon trailer will draw in some viewers.
Why is that so hard to understand?
Anyways, who cares, its just MTV. All I want, is to see the trailer. I could care less whether I watch it on MTV, E!, or on freakin ESPN.

I don’t think many people dislike Twilight, per se, but I can see how the fans grate on people.
I’ll watch the show in its entirety because I do every year, but that as eff all to do with the New Moon clip.
