Rockstar Games announced today that the second XBox 360 "episode" of its blockbuster videogame Grand Theft Auto IV will have the eyebrow-raising title "The Ballad of Gay Tony." The vignette, available this fall, will allow players to control "part time hoodlum" Luis Lopez as he works as an assistant for "legendary nightclub impresario" Tony Prince, who is also apparently known as "Gay Tony." It is unclear whether that means the character is homosexual. XBox 360 players will be able to download the episode using XBox Live for $19.99 or purchase it as a DVD disc that will also contain the first GTA IV episode, "The Lost and the Damned," for $39.99.

This is sickening. Politicizing a gratuitous video game. Is there nothing that can be shielded from politics any more?
I wish the gays would simply STFU and simply live their lives and hook up at their discretion. Quit blabbing about it publicly. Most of us don’t care about their drama; in fact, they’re laying the foundation for backlash against them by constantly squawking about the issue.
GTA is a game where, if I so choose, I can steal a car, run it down a sidewalk full of pedestrians, get out and then shoot/beat them to death and take their money. The police will show up and I can kill them too using my impressive weapons cache. Then, I just need to run away for long enough and I’ll be free to do it again.
And some of you are having a hissy fit because of a potentially gay character in add-on content? Come on now. That’s just silly.
And by the way, before this there were already two gay characters in GTAIV.
