Alec Baldwin has apologized for a controversial reference to "getting a Filipina mail-order bride" that he made during a recent appearance on Late Show with David Letterman. "I believe that most people understood that this was a joke and took itas such," the actor blogged for the Huffington Post. "(A dated reference, no doubt, and another sign of my advancingage.) However, I do apologize to anyone who took offense….Such anger and frustration about the issue of sex trafficking is understandable."

As a Filipino myself, I don’t see what the big fuss is about. The sad fact is that you *can* get a Filipina mail-order bride. (I got mine the old-fashioned way.)

David Feherty, Wanda Sykes and now Alec Baldwin. Why don’t we just make the telling of a joke a misdemeanor and then we can rid ourselves of this pervasive problem.
What’s to be sorry about, it’s not like Asian mail-order brides are uncommon, it amazes me what people are forced to apologize for these days.

Where is the joke….he is not a comedien. He must have said he was sorry many times to his last wife until she realized that it was just a joke.! Ya right. Using derogatory remarks as he definitely did is a true sign of his inner intelect…How dare yu insult a people who haven`t the luxury of an audience, money, possibility of a career…There is a price to pay for stupid, arrogant, selfserving remarks.

Right, Michelle. All those non-Americans want American husbands. I’m not sure if you’re just trolling or seriously uneducated. If you’re a troll, then you got me. If not, let me inform you that not all typecasts are justified. I’m an American but I’m not so dumb to assume that we’re SO loved all over the world that ALL people would rather take the shortcut of marrying a foreigner just to get out of poverty. Yes, there are those that do, but your generalization of their population is just plain ignorant. I really hope I’m just a victim of someone trying to get a reaction. I’m sick of scrolling down and reading comments from people who blabber nonsense. You’re entitled to your own opinion as anyone else, but please base it on facts and not prejudice.
Like many of his far-left Hollywood pals, Baldwin feels the need to embarrass this country on occassion with displays of ignorance. Sure, he has a right to free speech like anyone. But as a public personality it would be nice to see some sensitivity about stereotypes. There are plenty of gold-diggers right here in the US. Why slight Filipinas as sex objects? Once again, the true nature of Baldwin and his ilk is exposed by his arrogant, disdainful remarks. Maybe it shouldn’t be taken too personally, tho. He treats his own children with contempt, so it’s a good thing if he has no more to suffer the same fate. Too bad he didn’t keep his promise to move to France- we’d be better off.
