Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson will star in Bel Ami, an adaptation of a Guy de Maupassant short story scheduled to film in Paris next year. The British actor told Variety in Cannes that he’ll play "a totally amoral character" who ruthlessly rises to power in French society. British theater director Declan Donnellan is attached to make his film debut.

Bel Ami is a novel written by French author Guy de Maupassant decades before the adult film company used it’s name for their film studio. The movie is based on the novel and the main character is Georges DuRoy. The owner of the film studio used that name as a pseudonym.
What an unfortunate name for a movie! I wonder if they will fix it before the release.

I’ve enjoyed Robert’s work immensely thus far – the depth that he’s bringing to Edward in the Twilight series has been amazing. He’s obviously an extremely talented actor. I look forward to seeing more of his work as he brings another, very different, character to life. Best wishes and congrats to him as we look forward to another example of his work!
