Bulldozers flattened the home of another Slumdog Millionaire actor in the Garib Nagar section of Mumbai, India. According to the Associated Press, 9-year-old Rubina Ali, who played Freida Pinto’s character as a young street orphan, is homeless after city officials demolished her parents’ shanty home. "I’m feeling bad," Ali told the AP. " I’m thinking about where to sleep." Last week, the home of Ali’s young costar Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail was also leveled, in a similar government effort to clean up the slum.

I can’t believe these directos who fill the pockets with the work of these kids and just do nothing about it!
It is very disappointing and disheartening that more has not been done by the Danny Boyle and the movie makers to ensure that these young impoverished stars (and their families) are taken care of. They should have benefitted from the movie and it should have chnaged their lives… that does not seem to have been the case. Come Danny Boyle… change these peoples lives… you have benefitted financially, now sahre the wealth with those less fortunate. ‘Trust’ funds have been set up… so what??? They need help now!!!!
There is not much difference between the Slumdog team and the character ‘Maman’ in the movie. Both used the kids as objects to make money. Only difference being ‘Maman’ used to maim these kids, Slumdog team discarded them. These people make movies so beautifully as they are great souls touched by these slum kids’ lives, etc. If that is true why do we keep hearing one bad news after another about the ‘Slumdog’ kids. These people are shamelessly selfish. Can’t they contribute a very small percentage of the millions they made for the welfare of these kids? The kids did contribute to the success of the movie!
