Law & Order will tie Gunsmoke‘s record 20-year run with NBC’s renewal for next season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 16-episode season will fulfill creator Dick Wolf’s openly discussed desire to match the Western’s run. The announcement is expected to come as part of the Peacock’s unveiling of its fall season later today.
