Martin Luther King Jr. biopic: Two children oppose DreamWorks deal

Tagged:

Two of Martin Luther King Jr.’s children have expressed their opposition to the MLK biopic announced Tuesday by DreamWorks and producer Steven Spielberg, according to the AP. DreamWorks described the project as the first movie to be authorized by King’s estate. However, two of King’s children, Bernice King and Martin Luther King III, said the deal was struck by sibling Dexter King without their input. Dexter is the chairman and chief executive officer of the King estate. Bernice and Martin said they would be taking immediate legal action. A DreamWorks representative, contacted by EW, declined to comment other than to say that she doesn’t believe the siblings’ dispute will affect the film’s production.
