It’s official: Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford has been cast in the lead role in the anticipated remake of Footloose, Paramount announced today, confirming news that EW had previously reported. The role recently became available when Zac Efron bowed out. Footloose will be directed by High School Musical maestro Kenny Ortega. Paramount still hasn’t signed its female lead, though sources tell EW that several actresses — such as Hayden Panettiere and Julianne Hough — have been under consideration. A really bad casting decision on the filmmakers part. So won’t be seeing this movie. I’ll laugh when it bombs Seriously, can Chace even sing or dance? The answer would be NO!

Woah!!! I didn’t know CC could sing or dance! He looks like Zefron, but can he sing/dance? I hope he can, cuz the original was awesome and I was really disappointed that Zefron didn’t stick with it. I hope the movie does well with CC.
This choice is a deal breaker for us, Derek Hough is unbeatable when it comes to looks and dancing and you people think this guy can do it? Chace might be nice but he’s no Derek Hough, you just blew it, you’ll see!
Seriously, Chase Crawford? I don’t see it. The boy is bland and blank, and definitely no match for the spark that Kevin Bacon had in the first one.
Crawford is certainly pretty, but he does not have the chops to carry the Footloose remake. He is wooden and flat on Gossip Girl, and the worst actor on a show full of bad acting. Is this a remake of the 1984 film or will he have to sing like in the Broadway show? What’s next a remake of Flashdance? If that happens I’ll poke out my eyes with a dull spoon.

Chase Crawford? I didn’t know he could sing or dance? He’s mad cute, and even looks similar to Zac Efron. But I think on another page there were many comments suggesting other people, including DWTS Derek Hough, who sings and dances amazingly, and other SYTYCD finalists who have the dancing chops…just to mention a few… I’m not a fan of all these 80′s remakes. As a child of the 80′s, I think these movies were original and classic, and it just annoys me how every 20 years, there are this slew of remakes. So few movies nowadays are original screenplays, or even adaptations of books– they are just reimaginings of 80′s cartoons and teen classics. I can’t believe the younger generation goes for this thing!!!

Ugh. Chace Crawford is like a wannabe Zac Efron. It’s debatable who’s hotter (probably Crawford), but unlike Efron, there’s nothing going on underneath the surface. And Efron ain’t Brando.
Ewww..I knew they’d go this route. I would have forgiven them for this unnecessary remake if they’d put Derek Hough in the led role. Now, I can just skip the movie.
The Original Footloose is before my time, but this is going to SUCK!!!!!!!! Leave classic movies alone.
