George Clooney will star in A Very Private Gentleman, an adaptation of the Martin Booth novel to be directed by Anton Corbijin and written by Rowan Joffe, Variety reports. He’ll play an assassin who spends time in an Italian town before completing a final mission, making friendships and personal entanglements that complicate said assignment. The announcement comes at the Cannes film festival on the heels of Overture Films’ pick-up of Clooney’s satire The Men Who Stare at Goats.
