Reality star Richard Hatch, the winner of the first Survivor who was sentenced to serve four years in prison for federal tax evasion, has been transferred from a West Virginia federal prison to a halfway house in Pennsylvania. According to a spokesperson for the Northeast Regional Office of the Bureau of Prisons, Hatch, whose time behind bars began in July 2006, will be released from his halfway home on Oct. 7, at which time he will be placed on supervised release.

A halfway house and supervised release? Is that common for tax evaders? Seems kind of like overkill.
I still love Richard Hatch.
He spent 3 years in prison for tax evasion? Murderers get less time than that.
He never should have gotten 3 fricken years for tax evasion! Was the judge rooting for Sue Hawk? I’m glad he’s finally out.
He got 4 years and spent 3 years there? Most “criminals” only spend half of their time in prison. Someone doesn’t like survivor.
Hey, Richard, time to switch lawyers.
Hatch is the man–not to defend what he did, but he got a raw deal. This still seems overly harsh.
Part of me wants to think he got screwed over cuz he was gay, but the smarter half of me says he was just stupid. Still.. He would have been better off killing that dink of a host. He’d have been out a year ago…
The thing is, judges don’t like pompous jerks.
I remember the judge said the sentence was so harsh because Hatch lied to his face. He was offered a deal that included no jail time, all he had to do was admit to the obvious. But he decided to gamble, when you do that, sometimes the dice come up snake eyes. I also don’t buy that people convicted of murder get less time than 3 years in jail. His sentence seems about right to me.
Action reiqures knowledge, and now I can act!
Hey Richard, next time pay your taxes, moron.
Richard is the MOST FOOLISH survivor winner ever. Idiot Richard should have just fessed up and paid up.
What an idiot. He had a plea deal all arranged with no jail time but he thought he could “blindside” his way out of a guilty verdict.
No pity for Hatch. I hope he’s broke now.
