Jay Leno has announced his final guest as host of The Tonight Show will be none other than his ready-in-waiting heir apparent Conan O’Brien, according to The New York Times. Leno’s final episode will air on May 29, and O’Brien will step in as host beginning June 1. "We’re friends," Leno said of O’Brien in a news conference. "It’s a peaceful transition of power — not like Miss California. There’s no bloodshed.” Other guests on deck for Leno’s final week include Mel Gibson and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Leno will use the summer to prep for his new show on NBC this fall.

NBC can’t even let Jay have his final night of glory doing the Tonight Show. They’ve got to make him stomach Conan as a final guest. When Jay begins his 10:00 show in the fall, I bet Conan won’t give him the time of day, much less a guest appearance on his show.
