Top-five finisher Brooke White may not have won the big prize, but the 25-year-old Arizona native will begin her professional singing career this summer with a debut, High Hopes & Heartbreak, executive-produced by Idol judge Randy Jackson, and released on June Baby Records, a label he also co-founded.
Says Jackson in a press release, "I wanted to work with Brooke from the moment I met her. When she sang, I instantly heard the legendary greats that inspired her: Carole King, Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell… I’m so happy to be working with an amazingly talented artist at the beginning of her career."
White, who hit No. 2 on the iTunes Pop Singles Chart with “Hold Up My Heart" earlier this year, was best known on the show for her renditions of songs like Dolly Parton’s "Jolene," Simon’s "You’re So Vain," and the Beatles’ "Let It Be"; Heartbreak will hit stores July 21.

Good for her! She always had a nice smile on the show. Very talented.

I was excited about this until I heard that Randy “the dawg” Jackson was producing.
She and Michael Johns have lovely duet called Life is Okay – it’s on itunes and they sound great together!
Good Luck Brooke!
I’m with Liz…this sounded great until I read Randy Jackson’s name. First, he doesn’t seem like a logical fit with Brooke White’s genre of music. And second, the albums he’s worked on in the past few years haven’t been too great.
Still, Brooke was one of the more original contestants Idol has ever had. Much like Kris Allen, she makes up for her lack of vocal force with a deep and heartfelt emotional connection to her songs. Hopefully she’ll find success with this album.

How can anyone criticize Randy producing it when Brooke wouldnt EVEN HAVE a record deal if he hadnt signed her to his label??!? Thank god for Randy and I’m so glad to hear Brooke’s releasing an albvum. She was super talented on Idol. Now if only we’d see Syesha Mercado release a record!!
this news, for me for you, is good. i agree i was less than thrilled to hear Randy ‘dawg’ Jackson is producing, but i love Brooke. i’m sure her CD will be a motlen hot lava bomb!
Are you guys crazy? Randy is a great Producer and he has great connections. If Randy thinks your stuff is good then it is good. It just shows me that we are going to get some QUALITY music from Brooke.
Great to know this, even though she wasn’t my favorite, I truly loved the Top 8 last year (sans-Syesha), and I will keep my promise of getting all of their albums, I know we can expect nice things from her.
Are we ever gonna get something from Carly? I can’t wait.
I love that Randy Jackson has his own label. I have a feeling that he is going to be signing a lot of the AI contestants that 19 passes on.
I loved her album pre-Idol. I purchased it on iTunes. So I am looking forward to her new one.
What a joke! She’s one of the most overrated singers on American Idol ever!

Brooke drove me nuts because she was constantly stuck in this Im-almost-like-Carly-Simon-See-Look mode the entire season. The difference between her and greats, is that they put our hit records, made from amazing hit songs and sometimes they wrote them. Brooke, without an amazing hit is a bore. But she keeps trying to sell people on her stage image. Her voice was good, but not stellar and she made mistakes too often. Yet people seemed to vote more on the blonde with white piano image than her voice. She’s ok. But her songs better be awesomely written if I would even think about getting them. At least Randy worked with her, so there’s a small amount of hope.
That’s awesome! I can’t wait for her album, she was my favorite last year.
