On last night’s Late Late Show, Paulina Porizkova told host Craig Ferguson that she has been fired from America’s Next Top Model. She said the news came to her over the phone on her birthday. "The reason I was told I was fired was because it seemed that America’s Next Top Model has gotten too fat and they needed to cut some fat and the fat was me," sha said, adding later, "So I figured it was either that or my gigantic huge ego. Which I wasn’t aware of until I was told by the producers that I have an ego problem." Porizkova will make her last appearance as an ANTM judge on tonight’s finale.

I don’t watch the show…I don’t like Tyra and I don’t have cable…but it sounds like she clashed with the bigger ego: Tyra.
I can’t believe they got rid of Paulina! Miss Jay does nothing productive at panel. He just wears stupid wigs and bow ties. Cut him back to runway coach and off of panel and leave Paulina! She was never afraid to give valid (and hilarious) criticism!
Why did she get taken off? She’s one of the most level-headed people on that show. They couldn’t have eliminated the unfunny annoyance that is Miss J?
This is just insane! Tyra Banks has the biggest ego EVER! She’s absolutely disgusting and I can’t WAIT for something to cause her to fall off that mighty high horse she’s been sitting on for far too long. (Poor horse … bet his back is killing him by now!)
What!? Oh no! I love Paulina. It took me years to get over my envy of her having Ric Ocasek,but now that I have, I will really miss her. She was good on panel and the models really seemed to learn something from her teaches.
If anyone should have gone, it should have been Miss Jay who has not made one useful comment this entire season. He’s a waste of air time.
Wow, Tyra really does seem to think it is all about her. At least Paulina made valid critiques, instead of inserting her ego and experiences into every sentence she says, like Tyra does. Won’t watch this show anymore, Tyra’s self-absorption is just getting old.
I am officially done with this show. Paulina was the only thing good about it now. She ACTUALLY gives constructive criticism other than the old just “smile with your eyes” thing. I think Paulina is very classy and beautiful unlike all the other judges who have the big egos.
This is ridiculous. Paulina was SO good- so relevant and really had great advice for the girls. ANTM is going DOWN. They probably took her off because she had better advice than Tyra. All Tyra can do is squint her eyes and tell the girls to be more fierce.
What?!?! The addition of Paulina brought some actual experience and constructive criticism to the show. I think the models were actually LEARNING due to her critiques. Having heard this – I’ll probably stop watching. I’ve been looking for an excuse for a while. Paulina’s too good for the show.
What?!? Paulina is the fourth judge they have ever had. I love when she has teaches with the girls and they actually learn something. Tyra just doesn’t have time to do a teach every week and it is nice to have another model around to do it. They should get rid of Miss J if they really want to ditch someone. He is funny, but I liked him better when he just showed up every once in a while instead of being a permanent judge.
Thanks, ANTM. I’ve been wanting to cut down on the number of shows I watch so this news makes my list a little shorter. Paulina was THE best aspect of the show and the reason why I continued to watch. Bye, ANTM. I won’t miss you.
This is so wrong! I guess Tyra couldn’t handle Paulina giving honest and helpful advice & criticism to the girls. Tyra feeds them a bunch of BS, knowing all along that there is already a planned winner. I usually FF Tyra AND Ms. Jay! Since I can barely tolerate this show, and think it’s not a real competition anyway, maybe it’s time for me to give it up. It’s become less of a guilty pleasure, and more of a bad habit. Without Paulina, it just gets worse, imo.
Aw I like Paulina! The show isn’t as good these days, and I don’t see how this change makes it better.
Whatever. Paulina started off well but then got really bitchy with Nigel and the girls. Her comments to Celia were especially off the chain so I’m not really feeling sorry for her getting fired.
As far as ego goes, you have to look no further that Ms Tyra herself. Though Paulina never impressed me much I don’t think she is the problem here. The show has moved from a must watch to a pretty boring and predictable mess. Are there any “top models” left out there. The last couple of winners and the current crop are so lame. I am sure I won’t remember any of them until they run the “my life as a cover girl” promos next cycle!!
Paulina does have an ego problem – Tyra’s ego. Paulina gives great critiques, does not play yes person to Tyra like the other judges and she gives the models actual useful advice other than to smile with your eyes. Sheesh. Bye ANTM.
THANK YOU!!! I cannot stand her on the panal with her orange tan and wonky eye. If you want a bitchy judge stick with Janice Dickenson, she’s way more entertaining.
This cycle has been a disappointment to me because, for the first time since I started watching, I had no real favorite among the contestants to root for. This news about Paulina makes Cycle 12 even more of a bust. Paulina is one of the best parts of the show: brutally honest yet still likeable. Top Model will be hard pressed to replace her.
I didn’t like her on the show I do think she got really bitchy. There are enough of those on the panel. How about putting a young model on the panel instead of someone who has seen their best days gone by?
Good for you, get out while you can! ANTM has transformed itself into some crazy TV show, so does Tyra aka America’s Top Self-Promoter, lol!!! Mmm, actualy I stopped watching this show for quite a while now–but I felt like writing this piece.
Speaking of Top Model, anyone wonder why EW does not post Top Model recaps anymore? No coverage whatsoever!!! I know it’s a dumb show, but plenty of people still watch it!
Get rid of Miss J!
Ever since Pauline told London to never wear shorts in public basically, I’ve been turned off on her. I never really liked her anyway, but her comments were more snarky than constructive in my opinion.
I never cared for Paulina; bring Twiggy or Janice Dickinson back! lol And is anyone else annoyed with Tyra and her “inner fierceness” crap before judging? Get rid of Tyra too, she’s full of herself.
I think Paulina’s “ego problem” is that Tyra’s is too big to allow any other woman to shine on her show…
Anyone else miss when Tyra used to be semi-normal? I’ve been watching older seasons, and she used to be a lot less fake than she is now. Now, everything she does is so staged and disingenuous. It’s almost painful to watch.
Sorry, but Paulina and Nigel are the only two authentic things on that show. You could get rid of Tyra and Miss J on panel and I think the show would actually improve. Sorry, but Miss J and his “bird speak” – it was what confirmed for me that they are pandering to 7 or 8 year old girls (who I think are really the audience for this show). Sorry, but it’s gone from being a show for adults (think – would they even cast a girl like Elysse – or put her rant on the show these days – absolutely not. Nor would they show them getting waxed like they did back then) to a show where the winner appears on Seventeen magazine – like WOW! How exciting! And they cast 25 year old models and then rake them over the coals for being 25 and maybe sort of looking it. Total BS. I decided around episode 2 of this season that it would be my last. So I’ll be leaving with Paulina.
If they were really interested in cutting the “fat” they’d get rid of Miss J. (s)he brings nothing to the panel. Keep Nigel and Paulina, maybe bring back Nole. There were rumors that Tyra wanted to move on. Maybe it’s time for her to be replaced. She could still be the executive producer, make bank and do special appearances.
As much as I hate that Paulina has been fired I am totally not surprised. The last two cycles of ANTM have been SO cheaply produced; every episode looks like my local high school’s theatre group was in charge. I’m sure that the comment regarding Paulina’s supposed “ego” came directly from Tyra; Ms. Banks is the most egotistical woman I have ever seen. This is the straw that broke the camel’s back; I won’t be watching again. Hope you’re happy Tyra!
