Joan Rivers to host TV Land series

Categories: Television

Fresh off her Celebrity Apprentice win, Joan Rivers will be participating in another TV program: TV Land’s How’d You Get So Rich? The 30-minute, six-episode series, which premieres Aug. 12, follows Rivers as she explores the homes belonging to millionaires like the inventor of BillyBob Teeth and the Obama coin peddler. Larry W. Jones, TV Land’s president, says the following in a press release: "There is no one more outrageous and hilarious than Joan Rivers to introduce America to multimillionaires who prove that there is no such thing as small ideas! How’d You Get So Rich? is the perfect escapist fantasy and in these tough times – an inspiration.  The guy who made a 5 chamber bubble wand is worth $50 million.  Why didn’t I think of that!”

J & M Rivers, “champions” for business and for people? How absurd is that. Pond scum.

“escapist fantasy in these tough times.” But it’s not fantasy. These are real people. I think this kind of stuff is depressing and infuriating when half your friends are out of work and your own 401k has been knifed in half.

This is why I got rid of cable. I used to be a big TVLand fan, but ever since they starting showing “reality” crap like this, they’ve gone completely downhill. TVLand is just garbage now. Thanks, Larry Jones, for ruining what was once a good cable channel.

After seeing what a disingenuous elitist Joan Rivers is, I will never watch another show that remotely associates to her.
This woman is as volatile (emotionally) and vitriolic as they come.

  • Danny

Sounds like an interesting show. But with Joan Rivers on it I won’t be watching it or any thing else she is a part of.

  • Kathleen

I thought they drew the show out too long. Great for Joan! She did a fantastic job and deserved to be the winner!!

  • Rod

What a horrible woman. I will NEVER watch her on any TV show again. The network and sponsors need to reconsider.

NOT JOAN RIVERS!? What a “whore pit viper”. She’s so grating, and her fake tears and scratchy voice are worse than fingernails down a chalkboard. The only thing more annoying is her daughter Melissa’s tendency to follow her mother like she’s six years old, and smile so hard that her chin buries down into her quadruple necks until you think her teeth are going to break out of her jaws. MUCH BETTER TV WATCHING: the many business shows on CNBC, or the shows about food businesses on TLC or the Food Channel. Even Bloomberg or the FOX business channel. Anything but this trash.

I never miss Joan Rivers in what ever she does . Her jewelty is beautiful , she’s a great comedian . Her outlook on life is great. I was so glad she won

I will throw my tv out the window before i watch that trashy plastic witch, i wanted to throw up everytime she opened her whiny LOUD voice on the celebrity thing, I hope that Annie has her blacklisted at any Vegas gig she may get from now on

  • Sandi

Hooray for Joan!! So happy she beat that conniving mean old hag Annie Duke. Annie couldn’t try to be manipulative with Joan like she was with everybody else on that show. Did you happen to notice all of the other celebrities believed that Joan should be hired, when they were asked? Good for you , Joan!! You are God’s gift to this world!!!

  • nojoanplease

TVLand thinks there’s no one more outrageous than this boorish 75 year-old??? Get a clue TVLand (and hire some hipper execs). Oh, and get an office ready for Melissa too!

  • Shingo

Google BRIANNE TRUMP!!!!! This was a fix. The Donald’s sis in law is heavily involved with Joan’s charity. Annie kicked A## the whole season. Her charity is owed $250,000. Ante up Donald!!!

I couldn’t watch Joan Rivers…her face is so hideous it broke my heart. At 75 years old, you’d think she wouldn’t be comfortable looking so garishly unnatural, and might actually set a better example for her daughter of aging gracefully instead of this weird display of fighting tooth and nail with nature. It honestly made me uncomfortable to look at her….creeps me out! Besides that, she was SO condescending, judgmental and mean spirited; it changed my whole opinion of her. I agree with all the other posters who said they felt like this choice was fixed from the get go. The poker player didn’t have a chance, and I’m sure she saw that handwriting on the wall as Trump sat back and smiled as Joan interrupted every word she said. WTF? Any thought I’d had that Trump was conducting this show with some modicum of ethics is gone, and this stupid custom of having your face ripped off and replaced every couple of years is perpetuated. Another ‘valuable’ Trump contribution …

joan you have class,i remember u from the old dadys back then annie wouldnt have talked crap to u,shes smart but u called her bluff.good luck

  • spiderturd

ivanka 24 hours with u and u would call me daddy

I refuse to watch any show that hypocritical, vile old hag is a part of. I went from being a fan to being completely disgusted thanks to the Celebrity Apprentice. Anyone who thinks Joan is funny has no sense of humor, anyone who thinks she is genuine and a good person is seriously disturbed and anyone who thinks her shiteous jewelry is wearable has absolutely no taste.

  • Shelby

Joan won and will go on to various gigs like you see here meanwhile Anne will slither back into obscurity.

  • anonimoose

Ugh…I will never watch another show with that graceless, fake, childish, rude, vicious, hate-filled hack again! Annie was the consumate professional and businesswoman. Joan and her awful daughter were and are an embarrassment to human nature, and have no clue as to the true meaning of charity (didn’t she say “charity schmarity” at one point?!), dignity, and grace. Any tv show with her in it will only appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Trump made a fool of himself with his selection of Joan Rivers. Here is a guy who claims to be the best, build the best, be with the best, and he selected the 2nd best. Annie outworked, outplayed and outearned Joan the entire season. Joan did an admirable job, but was not the best, maybe 3rd or 4th best of the group. Trump slanted the competition by having Melissa be one of the participants, denied knowing Joan was the cause of the event planner quitting then insinuated Annie and her friends had mafia ties. Last time I checked Trump owned some interest in casino’s and these people he slandered were his customers.
Celebrity Apprentice might have been renewed for another season, but no one I know will be watching. Trump – You’re Fired.

  • UGH! UGH! UGH!

Just when you thought TVLame couldn’t sink any lower, they crank out a piece of dreck that is highly inappropriate for a lot of people suffering in today’s sinking economy.

Why are you people talking about “Celebrity Apprentice”?
    Problem focusing?
TV Land’s Larry Jones is totally out of touch with the country. Why on earth, in these times where people are losing their homes and life savings, would that idiot think that some multi-millionaire rubbing our faces in it would be “inspiring”?
I suppose Melissa Rivers will be along for the ride on this one as well.
How long has Joan been trying to build a career for her daughter — 30 years or so?

Joan beat Annie hands down! Joan has more class and stamina than Annie. I knew in my heart that Joan beat Annie way before the finale. Annie played everyone like a fiddle!!! Joan respected everyone including David the designer. David could not handle the task therefore took a hissy fit and bailed out of the show! David did not like the fact that Joan knew what she wanted and he was just not getting it. Joan called in her big guns to help out and Ms David blew a “I am not working with anyone else because I am the best of the best” As much as I am not a huge fan of the Donald, I love Joan. Dont attack her because of her plastic sx. I think she looked beautiful prior to the sx but dont attack her personally! She outdone Annie in 3 out of 5 categories. I believe in Joan and everythig she does!
    Go mama Rivers!

  • Deeca

Why not just air Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous reruns. Its pretty much the same thing.
No way in hell I watch this show and in the wake of this economy, Larry Jones and TV LAND should be ashamed of themselves for airing this. Talk about BAD TASTE.

Wow. I can’t believe how much negativity there is around this show. Frankly, I’m always interested in how people make it big. It may inspire me one day to figure it out for myself. I plan to watch.
