Seems you can have your chicken and eat it too…albeit a little later than expected. After hordes of hungry Oprah fans were turned away from KFC outlets across the country earlier this week, the fast-food chain is now sending out rain checks to appease them.
On Tuesday, Oprah Winfrey announced on her show that coupons for a free Kentucky Grilled Chicken dinner would be available on her website. But the demand was so overwhelming that KFC could not accommodate everyone. Traffic near a KFC in Greensboro, N.C., created such a hazard on Wednesday that police ended up blocking access to the restaurant. And in New York City and elsewhere, disgruntled customers staged protests.
According to KFC, the company has never had such a response to a special-meal offer. "It’s unprecedented in our more than 50 years," said KFC spokeswoman Laurie Schalow told the AP. "It beats anything we’ve ever done."

I took two of the four coupons to KFC this morning, hoping to get a meal to go for my daughter and myself. Lo and behold, no cars in the parking lot, and a man met us at the door to ask if we were here for the “Oprah chicken dinner”. I told him, “Yes”, and showed him our coupons. He told us they were no longer honoring them. I will no longer honor KFC, in return. We have spent many dollars at KFC over the years. No longer. A deal is a deal, and they reneged. Bad form.
Good thing KFC refused to give you free food, otherwise you would be feeding that crap to your daughter. It’s amazing that you won’t stop going to KFC when it is so incredibly damaging to your health and your child’s health, but get angry and refuse to go simply because they won’t feed you more crap that is bad for you. In the long run, it probably won’t help someone like you though because you’ll end up just taking your daughter to some other place she shouldn’t be eating at.

After seeing the video of the disgruntled customers when Popeye’s ran out of chicken (and that wasn’t even FREE), I heard the Oprah/KFC thing and said to myself, “this isn’t going to end well.”

Yeah! Lets blame the consumer! What a joke. Oprah please don’t do business with kfc again. I waited over 25 minutes in line only to be told that they would not accept my free coupon. I ended up buying chicken meals, as did others. I can’t believe they say they lost money in this! This was something I could not afford either as I am unemployed. My local kfc, Fullerton, CA, did not even have the courtesy to post a sign in the window. The grilled chicken was not that great, it was still greasy although not as bad as the fried. The doughy, greasy kfc bisquit doesn’t compare to McDonald’s. The Fullerton store didn’t even have baked beans, but they did have cheap tasting mac and cheese. No one was going crazy at this store the way the media would like you to believe. Everyone was just resigned to buying their meal.

Either they are extremely stupid or more likely knew this would happen as they “limited” the coupons to 4 per PC and Oprah conveniently put a PDF of the coupon on her site. Then just 2 days later the President of KFC has a video that says “due to overwhelming demand” they are no longer accepting the coupons and only offering rainchecks, that is if you go to the store where they hope you may buy something else while there. Kentucky Fraud Chicken – They do nothing right!

If you still have the KFC coupons, you can use them at El Pollo Loco this Sunday (Mother’s day). They will give you 2 free pieces of chicken, 2 tortillas and salsa. Unlike KFC, these guys WILL come through. They did when they did their free chicken giveaway a day after KFC did their one free piece giveaway. Plus it went smoothly.
