Judge denies Roman Polanski's request to dismiss sex charges

Tags:

Variety is reporting that a Los Angeles judge denied a request today to throw out a three-decades old conviction against Roman Polanski for having sex with a minor because the director refused to personally appear in court. Polanski’s attorney had tried to argue that the director’s presence in the court was irrelevant to the dismissal motion. The recent HBO documentary Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired revealed new information about possible judicial misconduct in Polanski’s original trial, resulting in the latest proceedings. The 75-year-old Polanski, who lives in France, is considered a fugitive for fleeing the country following his 1977 conviction for unlawful sexual intercourse.

The U.S. courts really need to give this a rest already, so he had sex with some teenager like 30 years ago, the guy’s 75 now, it’s not like he’s gonna go out and start exposing himself at a Miley Cyrus concert FFS!

Just because someone skipped out of the country doesn’t mean you just forget about it.

NATHAN!!!!! It’s called accountability. Just because he had the money and connections to run from the law doesn’t mean he is above it. They have men in prison for 10 and 20 years for a lot less. Also, I MUST assume from your comment NATHAN that it WAS NOT your teenage daughter was it??? Stay focused.

He, a Holocaust survivor who’s mother was executed and who’s girlfriend and unborn child where brutally murdered, was treated VERY unfairly in 1977. Watch “Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired.”

    I meant his wife actually.

You dont mess with children! This man should have been hanged along time ago! Instead he is called a genuis while at the same time the academy has given him an OSCAR! Just goes to show you how shallow America really is!

Poor Roman, he has been through so much. The original case was so poorly run, and because uneducated American’s don’t even understand their own legal system we have people like Pepper and shakespeare commenting as if they have a clue. I hope for Roman’s sake he stays in France, there is nothing worth his time here.

Hey Faith: are you actually defending a child rapist? Pepper and Shakespeare have more of a clue than you ever will. He is a coward who CHOSE to avoid the law and abandon America for France. And as far as “nothing here for him”, he sure loves our $$$ doesn’t he? Maybe he should distribute all of his movies outside of the United States.

Nathan: Your ignorance of the legal system is overshadowed only by your sense of morality. Fail.

  • Robert

Richard: No, your ignorance of the justice stystem is overshadowed by your ignorant comment to Natham. If I could, I would give you a real education in what is really going on in our corrupt justice system. You need to come to some understanding of what the “LAW”

  • Jet

It was Roman Polanski who was “unjust” by fleeing [not anymore the act of rape] and not the law. DURA LEX SED LEX.

It is long overdue to drop the whole thing. Besides back in the 70′s everybody screwed everybody. Besides, he paid his dues living in exile all these years from commmunist dictatorship Amerika
