I am a huge obsessive Twilight fan, but it is not the best movie of the year, by far. I am torn between the Dark Knight and Gran Torino. Still don’t know which one to vote for. But the Best Kiss and acting categories are going to Twilight. I was a little letdown by Slumdog. Did not think that it was as great as all of the critics made it out to be.

Ok, forget what I just said because Gran Torino is not a choice.

Slumdog SHOULD win..but this is MTV, so Twilight will win.

Huge Twilight fan but I’m rooting for Dark Knight for best picture, especially since the Oscars totally snubbed them. I hope Twilight wins for best kiss.

as much as i love slumdog, i’d like to see the dark knight take home the best movie award. the dark knight was really amazing, and i think it deserved more oscars than it got. i haven’t seen twilight yet, so i’m not going to judge, but people have told me different things about it, but i’ll have to see for myself how good or how bad it is, lol.

It is true that Slumdog is a well made and brilliant movie. But to the MTV audience and crowd, Twilight is a BETTER movie. I don’t agree, but I understand.

Why is MTV involved with movies or music. Stick to what you know, crappy reality shows. Host the reality show awards.

the dark knight all the way! Twilight was lame. Wasn’t even like the books.

I know this is most likely going to be a singular opinion but I actually preferred Iron Man to Dark Knight, especially upon subsequent viewings. Of course, both films are very well done. Who do you think will win for best male and female performance?

  • Jill

Why the hell is Twilight nominated? That’s ridiculous. That movie does NOT deserve an award. Slumdog is great, as is Dark Knight. Either of those would be good.

MTV awards have started pandering to the very young (except for the shows’ hosts).

High School Musical 3 is nominated alongside Slumdog Millionaire and The Dark Knight? WTF?
I am okay seeing Twilight square off against those two Oscar contenders because it was hip and had an MTV approved soundtrack, but HSM 3? The kids that love HSM 3 aren’t even old enough to buy themselves a ticket to see Slumdog Millionaire!
    MTV has hit rock bottom.

  • Kara

I agree with you Emma. i thought dark knight was awesome. but everytime i watched it really felt very long and was sometimes hard to get through.

  • Mary

I really think Twilight deserves win the Best Movie. Besides, Slumdog Millionaire won enough Oscars this year. Give Twilight a chance to win at least MTV movie awards!!!
Twilight also deserves for best song! Paramore rock in Decode!!!

I am a HUGE Twilight fan, and while I agree that the film had MANY issues (now that NM has a good director, I have faith it’ll be great), this isn’t the Oscars. Twilight made more money than Slumdog Millionaire, and Twilight is an IMMENSE pop culture phenomenon. It’ll win a lot of awards, no doubt.
P.S.- I don’t think that the Dark Knight was a great film. Heath Ledger was outstanding, but the film itself felt like a bunch of action sequences filmed together. Just having expensive special effects does not make a film great.
