The Patricia Arquette-led procedural Medium is the latest NBC show to get the greenlight for the 2009-2010 season, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter. The number of Medium episodes ordered is not known, but it’s expected to be somewhere in the 13-to-18 range. While not a ratings powerhouse, Medium performs solidly for NBC, averaging 7.4 million viewers so far this season. A rep for NBC declined to comment on the report. That’s not exactly surprising, since the network hosts its "Infront" presentation tomorrow afternoon, when execs will reveal their entire scheduling plan for next season.
Yesterday, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that freshman cop drama Southland was picked up for 13 episodes next season. The fates of Law & Order and Chuck — as well as several new pilots — are still unknown, but the network is said to be in the late stages of finalizing renewals for Thursday-night comedies My Name is Earl and Parks & Recreation. In January, NBC announced early renewals for The Office, 30 Rock, and The Biggest Loser.

Deadlinehollywooddaily.com is reporting that both “Chuck” and “Law & Order” are renewed.
Hopefully Chuck’s rumor of renewal is true and I hope that it’s HUGE and LOYAL Fanbase had a lot to do with it
Cuz I’m spreading the word about Chuck even after its renewal (thinking positive poeple)
Please let this be accurate – I enjoy ‘Medium’ and would love it to be renewed. And shorter seasons of good, quality television series do not bother me a bit.
I absolutely love this television series, and I wish NBC gave it more respect. For the past two seasons it was simply a fill-in for other failed series. Maybe with the shorter seasons, NBC is looking to have more original programming than other networks. Seems like a smart, and perhaps cost custing move.
Law and Order and Chuck have been reportedly renewed also.

No word on Chuck or Law & Order is official though. Don’t get ahead of yourselves!
And yay for Medium.
Thank goodness. Practically every show I watch is in danger. It’s really too bad that “Life” will probably be canceled, though. Such an excellent show and Damian Lewis is wonderful.
Awright! The most real family on television — somehow it’s true! — gets to stick around!!
Yay for Medium! So happy it has been renewed.
I saw this coming…
i hope that’s true about medium being renewed. i love the show and the fact that they are a realistic family. patricia arquette has always been one of my very favorite actresses and i’ve grown to love the entire cast. good move, nbc. cbs could take notes on how to run a network from you.
This is such an awesome show, it would be a terrible thing if it were to be taken off. How can NBC say exactly how many people watch the Medium? Do they honestly know how many people live in our homes? I have seven who watch. I am glad it is staying on. Thank you NBC.
I also hope that Medium has been renewed for this year. Why is it a show that is so good to watch is always cancelled! What I love about the show is the realistic family life they live, not in a mansion, but a plain little house, add this to the mother who has visions in her sleep and well that says it all! I too know many viewers who would hate seeing it cancelled. I look forward to the new season each year and love Patrica Arquette in this role!
