Obsessed with Madonna’s adoption drama? Well it seems CBS’ The Early Show is, too. For three days, beginning Monday, the morning talk show will air a series about Madonna’s adoption quest. Day one is set to feature an exclusive with the Malawian man claiming to be the biological father of the four-year-old girl Madonna hopes to adopt. James Kambewa claims, "I want to take care of her and I’m capable to take care of my baby… Mercy. She is Malawian — so [I] need her to grow as a Malawian, as well with our culture." Kambewa has never met Mercy (whose mother reportedly died just after child birth).
A Malawian judge rejected the pop star’s initial request to adopt Chifundo "Mercy" James, citing the country’s residency requirement for would-be parents. Madonna’s appeal is scheduled to be heardMonday.

Why doesn’t Madonna try and help a child who actually has no living parents?
If he’s so capable of looking after her, why has Mercy been in an orphanage for three years and why has he never even met her? Sounds like he suddenly has a case of wounded pride.
the sad thing is he will be portrayed as the victim and madonna as the bully, yet if he was such a father, how come he has had no contact with her since her birth? madonna went through all the proper channels as has been documented time and time again but that will most liekly be ignored. the whole thing is just ridiculous. heaven forbid we question that idiot jolie but madonna can’t even do one thing correctly in the eyes of our society.

americans have adoption cases like this all the time, fathers who disappear after the birth of their babys only to come back to claim a right to help take care of them, theres nothing wrong with that as long as they can prove they are worthy and he is mercys flesh and blood, the mother is no longer alive and he does have the human right to being the father to make a decision about his daughter, also people need to remember mercys parents were young nieve teenagers who knew no better when she was born and there are millions of teenagers like that in america some who have proved to be great mums and dads later in life. Madonna really needs to stop with the circus roadshow and perhaps adopt a poor child in her own country. It doesnt matter if your black or white the needs are all the same.

Most kids that are adopted have living parents. The question is not rather there living but are they able to provide for the child or even want to. This little girl now has a father who says he can however this girl has spent years in a orphanage before Madonna attempted to adopt her. that doesnt make sense to me.

Where was he when the girl he got pregnant died and when the child was sent to the orphanage. read the history of him first before judging Madonna. He ran away when the young girl got pregnant. The girl was left in orphanage! Isn’t that interesting he came out off hiding after a famous rich woman got involved? Himm, why nobody is talking about it? I have seen David’s pictures before adoption. He looked so fragile and ill and about to die. Now every picture he looks so alive and happy as every child should be. You critics are evil minded, cold hearted!
Taking a entourage with her and a staff of photographers on her first trip to adopt this child is indictive that the real reason she is doing this is to draw attention to herself. I hope her appeal is denied snd she’s benned from ever adoting another child. The world could do without people like her.
CBS is no different than the scandalous tabloids who went looking for the ‘father’ in the first place and flashed some cash in his face for every interview. The legal documents state the child’s mother and father are dead, it was not until after the first adoption decision (in fact, it was the day after), that this father showed up thanks to the tabloid, The Sun. He keeps mentioning Mercy’s fame in every interview, that just goes to show where his true intentions lie.
Shame on CBS for exploiting this situation. Madonna isn’t doing this for publicity (she has quite enough of it without making a lifetime committment to a child). This child has been living in an orphanage for years. The father is obviously not capable of caring for her in spite of what he says. She wants to rescue a child from this hellish living environment. Orphanages exist so that kids can be ADOPTED. Let her adopt the child. She will have a better life than sitting and languishing in Mallousy.
I find it interesting how you people goes off asking why he hasn’t ever met her. This is africa we’re talking about. Not like ladies in NA/EU are any different…
He had sex with the mother and got dumped cuz he didn’t earn enough to support her. She found out later she was pregnant and died giving birth without telling the father out of spite.
Family figured it must have been him and told him both died after the fact to respect the mothers wishes.
He IS the victim as much as the child is. Love can sometimes cause women to do selfish things to ex-lovers.
Mothers torturing fathers and forcing fatherless children into poverty… That’s what is occurring here. If it is his child then he has every right to claim her.
