PBS acquired director Spike Lee’s adaptation of rock musical Passing Strange, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, according to Variety. Strange — which focuses on a young black man who travels to Europe and exploits his LA persona — will air in 2010 as a part of the public television network’s "Great Performances" series. The film may also get a limited theatrical release this summer or fall.

WOW!…
Great musical. Can’t wait to see the movie adaptation.
it is not an adaptation. it is a documentary. it’s incredible, but spike shot it using the last two performances and an additional audience-less day. Stew & co. are tremendous. 2nd correction: it premiered at Sundance Jan 16th I believe.

Mind if I say WOW!! I have been waiting for something like this, so creative, so real, so pitch-perfect with professional, flawless performance. I am thankful to the creator. I cought it on PBS I can only image how powerful this must have felt in person.
