'So You Think You Can Dance' choreographer accused of rape
Alex Da Silva, a Brazilian-born salsa dancer who has choreographed several numbers for Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance, was taken into police custody in L.A. Saturday for allegedly sexually assaulting four of his female students. The charge stems from four separate incidents: The choreographer was accused of sexual assault in 2003, 2004 and 2005, but prosecutors at the time opted not to file charges. But on March 28, police re-examined the previous accusations after another woman accused Da Silva of luring her into his home and raping her. ("These four women don’t know each other at all, yet their reports read basically the same," said one of the detectives on the case.) Da Silva is currently being held on $3.8 million bail, and will appear in court Tuesday.

Jade Goody laid to rest
Jade Goody was laid to rest today to the tune of the Beatles’ "Let it Be" in front of thousands of fans, who gathered 20 miles outside London to say goodbye to the UK reality star. The funeral for Goody—who died March 22 after losing her much-publicized year-long battle with cervical cancer—was held at St. John’s Church in Buckhurst Hill, Essex—where TV screens were set up to broadcast the service for Goody’s fans.
Goody’s husband, Jack Tweed, acted as one of six pallbearers at the service, and read a poem to his late wife. ("My life will never be the same without you by my side…grief almost too much to bear and difficult to hide.")
Goody’s legacy will continue, however. The reality star wrote a cancer diary dedicated to her sons, which will be published this spring. Her publicist, Max Clifford, told reporters: "It’s a sad day. She was just a young woman…She will save an awful lot of lives because of her stand on cervical cancer. That in itself will be Jade’s legacy. She hasn’t been here long, but she’s achieved an awful lot."

People.com reports that the Palin family rep released a statement saying, "We’redisappointed that Levi and his family, in a quest for fame, attention, and fortune, are engaging in flat-out lies, gross exaggeration, andeven distortion of their relationship….It is unfortunate that Levi finds it more appealing to exploit hisprevious relationship with Bristol than to contribute to the well beingof the child."

BBC fined for Russell Brand prank
A prank pulled by comedian Russell Brand and TV and radio personality Jonathan Ross that went awry last year has cost the BBC £150,000 ($222,000) in fines, the BBC reported today. Brand and Ross, who cohosted a radio show, phoned Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs last October, leaving messages suggesting that Brand had sexual relations with Sachs’ granddaughter. In the ensuing scandal, Brand resigned from the radio show while Ross was suspended for three months. British media regulator Ofcom said the fines were the result of "the extraordinary nature and seriousness of the BBC’s failures" and the "resulting breaches" of its code.
Demi Moore uses Twitter to help prevent fan's suicide
A "tweet" may have saved a Demi Moore fan’s life, CNN reported today. The actress, whose Twitter blog has some 380,000 fans, received an online threat from a woman who said she was "getting a knife, a big one that is sharp. Going to cut my arm down the whole arm so it doesn’t waste time." Moore responded to the grim statement with the comment "Hope you are joking." The unnamed 48-year-old woman’s suicide threat was traced to a San Jose, Calif., home, where she was taken into custody for a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation. Moore, who was in southern France where husband Ashton Kutcher is shooting the crime drama Five Killers, later informed her Twitter followers that the San Jose police were in control of the situation, and that she was "very torn about responding or retweeting that woman’s post but felt uncomfortable just letting it go."
