Hugh Jackman immortalized in Grauman's Chinese Theatre sidewalk

Two weeks before X-Men Origins: Wolverine will be unleashed into theaters, Hugh Jackman sank his hands and feet into the famous Hollywood Boulevard cement outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.

After an introduction by Jay Leno, Jackman told the crowd that he’d first visited the landmark when he originally arrived in L.A. a dozen years ago. "It’s a very humbling moment as an actor to be here. You look down at the names, from Fred Astaire to Cary Grant, Clint Eastwood, Al Pacino, Steve McQueen, John Wayne, and to think that those people have been immortalized and pretty soon I’ll be putting my hands in wet cement," Jackman said.

'American Idol': Paula Abdul says her contract is up for renewal

During an interview on ABC’s Nightline airing this Thursday, Paula Abdul will reveal that her American Idol contract is coming up for renewal this season. "I love the show, I do," she says. Asked if she thinks she might be replaced on the show, Abdul says, "I don’t think anyone [can]…. Whenever there is change it’s not about replacing anybody; it’s about possibly moving on."

Twitter sees 43 percent boost thanks to Oprah

Traffic on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, jumped 43 percent after Oprah Winfrey started "tweeting" last Friday, USA Today reports. You can follow Oprah’s posts at her official Twitter page, which already has more than 450,000 "followers" — or users who are receiving updates about Oprah’s daily activities.

Food Network cooks up eight new shows

Food Network has announced eight new programs, Variety reports. The shows include Chefs vs. City, in which two expert chefs will travel to a different city in each episode to compete against local chefs; and Extreme Cuisine With Jeff Corwin, in which Corwin will sample exotic foreign foods. Also debuting, and taking a cue from South Park, is What Would Brian Boitano Make?, in which the former Olympic figure skater will cook "amazing food for a new event in each episode," according to Food Network.

Pixar's 'Up' earns PG rating

Disney/Pixar’s upcoming computer-animated film Up has received a PG rating from the MPAA for "some peril and action." The rating is now being featured on the movie’s official website. This is only Pixar’s second feature to receive a PG rating, after 2004′s The Incredibles; all the others have been rated G. Up will be released in theaters on May 29.

Bravo to develop reality show about Fred Segal store

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bravo will add another fashion-driven reality show to its lineup. In addition to the upcoming The Fashion Show, the network has announced that it will have a series about the high-end L.A. shop Fred Segal. The yet-to-be titled show, currently in development, will document the day-to-day happenings of the retailer’s Santa Monica location.

Rod Blagojevich can't join 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!' judge says

Looks like Rod Blagojevich’s reality-series dreams have ended before they began. The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that a federal judge ruled today that the ex-Illinois governor cannot go to Costa Rica to film NBC’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, because the judge cannot be sure that Blagojevich will comply with the terms of his bail. "It’s way too soon. I don’t think this defendant in all honesty…fully understands the position he finds himself in," said U.S. District Judge James Zagel. (Blagojevich has pled not guilty to 17 charges including racketeering and extortion.) According to a defense motion, he could have made $123,000 if he’d appeared on the show. NBC issued a statement saying, "NBC isdisappointed in the court’s decision today regarding Rod Blagojevich’sparticipation on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, but excited about thecasting announcement for the show this Friday. There are no plans to move the show to a location in the UnitedStates."

'Project Runway' to premiere on Lifetime on Aug. 20

Project Runway will — finally! — return on Aug. 20 at 10 p.m. on the Lifetime Network, marking its eagerly awaited comeback after months of messy legal wrangling over which network had the rights to air the sixth season of the show. The catwalk reality series will bring back Teutonic hostess Heidi Klum, "make-it-work" mentor Tim Gunn, and judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia, and feature 16 new contestants vying to make it all the way to Fashion Week. Lifetime also announced that it would unveil a new companion series titled Models of the Runway, which will air directly after Project Runway at 11p.m. The 30-minute show will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the Project Runway competition from the vantage point of the models.

Debra Messing returns to NBC with new comedy pilot

The untitled pilot is one of many incorporating the current economy into its plot:Messing will play a laid-off CEO who struggles with her new role as a full-timewife and mother, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Stephen Hawking hospitalized in England

Scientist and author Stephen Hawking (A Brief History of Time), 67, has been admitted to a hospital near Cambridge University in England, where he is a professor. The reason for treatment has not been made public, but Hawking has battled Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (better known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease or ALS) for over 40 years. "Professor Hawking is being kept in for observation at Addenbrooke’shospital this morning," reads a post on Hawking’s official website. "He is comfortable and his family is lookingforward to him making a full recovery"
