CBS moves 'Harper's Island' to Saturday

Tags:

Rather than canceling the struggling serialized murder mystery Harper’s Island, CBS announced today it will move the show from Thursdays at 10pm to Saturdays at 9pm, starting May 2. According to a network release, the 13-week limited series showed improvement in DVR and online viewership, an indication that it had enough of an audience to sustain the show through the end of its run.

i really like the show!! its fun…some of the acting is painful, why did they kill Harry Hamlin in first episode?…but it has the cutie from ‘ugly betty’ come on peops…give the show a chance..

I’m relieved that their planning on airing all 13 eps, but sad that it is being moved. Of course I’ll keep watching it – I’ve been enjoying it – just a little bummed.

If they cancel this I will be so pissed!!! It’s 13 episodes…. they can’t just leave it alone?? Actually this will be good because I was having to DVR Harper’s Island and Southland.

I guess CBS viewers just don’t like serial dramas for some reason. I will be watching until the very end. I think CBS just set the bar way too high expecting this to do so well out of CSI. The CSI demographic and the audience this show is aiming for are apples and oranges.

Well it is a good show and an intriguing miniseries, I’ll watch now that I’m entranced by the plot twists

I’m old enough to remember when Saturday night was the #1 night for CBS – All in the Family, Newhart, Mary Tyler Moore and Carol Burnett. Now all of the networks have given up Saturday night because it doesn’t bring in the youngest viewers. I was young when those shows were on…..we stayed home, watched (no VCR, no DVR) and then went out. Maybe this will start to bring back Saturday night. Love the show, BTW.

I think the show is definitely better than I thought it would be. I just can’t stand the previews for the following week when the creepy, little girl says “one by one” over and over again. It’s just obnoxious.

I enjoy Harper’s Island. I think the biggest problem with it was they tried to shove too many characters at you at once. Now that we are getting to know these people, its becoming more of a story. I think a lot of people are DVRing this so they can go over the clues.

i love the showw :) !! i really hope we get to see all 13 episodes

I wish the networks followed this model: limited run and no messing around with the schedule. I also wish the networks followed the model of smart tv for adults. Clearly I’m dreaming. It surprised me how much I like Harper’s Island (not usually a fright-flick chick), so I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

I’m surprised at how much I actually like this show… although it’s hysterical how these people keep dying and no one seems to notice. Like the bridesmaid with the dog that got torched? She doesn’t seem to be missed much!

This show was really cheesy yes, but everyone loves a good mystery, and this brought it. And quite honestly, I don’t think CBS could of put it in a better timeslot. Against a NBC new show, who would of thought Southland would succeed. Yes, it an amazing show, but so was Kings.

Harper’s Island rocks!! Fresh, fun and intriguing. I’ll go wherever they put it.
