EW has confirmed that actress Rooney Mara (Urban Legends: Bloody Mary) is in final talks to join the cast of the new A Nightmare on Elm Street as the heroine Nancy. She would join Watchmen star Jackie Earle Haley as villain Freddy Krueger, as well as Thomas Dekker (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) and Kyle Gallner (The Haunting in Connecticut) as fellow victims of Freddy’s dream-invading murderous rampage. The news of Mara’s involvement was first reported by horror fansite Bloody Disgusting.

Really this had to be re-made. The original is a horror classic. Hollywood come up with new ideas and stop messing around with remakes.
It’s not like Robert Edlund is too old to be Freddy again, he just was in Freddy Vs. Jason, I refuse to see this because it’s not him! Besides the fact, what happened to the movie with Freddy, Evil Dead guy (Ash I think), and Jason? At least when you remake Jason it isn’t completely obvious being he has a mask on. WTF was Hollywood thinking?!
Don’t you get it people? These movies are cash cows. They could care less about messing up the integrity of the original.
Robert Englund was the one who has said a million times that he shouldn’t play Freddy in the remake. He’s fine with it; he thinks it was the right choice. They should give him a cameo, though.
As for horror remakes in general, re-working horror villians has been happening forever (Dracula, Frankenstein, etc) and will continue to. It’s fun.
Im really looking forward to this movie, especially because I’m going to be an extra and I have class in the room next to the one theyre using for the classroom scene!
The one with Ash Freddy,and Jason was turned into a comic book, and Robert Englund will always be the best freddy, but if theres one guy who can do a really good job,its Jackie
