Categories: Television

The fascination over Susan Boyle continues. Times Online is reporting that Boyle’s soulful rendition of "Cry Me a River" — a recording she made 10 years ago for a hometown charity album — has surfaced on YouTube. A spokeswoman for the 48-year-old contestant from Britain’s Got Talent confirmed the recording was real. Apparently, only 1,000 copies of the CD were produced.

INFAMOUS = famous for something BAD
    horrible vocabulary you have

  • Braxton

Can I have a job writing for you? At least I know how to use the word infamy, infamous, FAMOUS.

  • Sean Davis

    Why use the word “infamous”?

  • Bob

I’m not sure if you are IGNORANT of the meaning of ‘infamous’, privy to some as yet unpublished deed of hers or merely an envious, malignant scab. She has not done anything to deserve such a slanderous description. Hope you don’t write regularly for EW.

  • Dang Dzung

I wonder why you use the adjective
INFAMOUS when you mention SUSAN BOYLE.

I just listened to “Cry Me a River” and it was breathtaking. I got chills. I think she might want to consider this for her next performance on Britian’s Got Talent. Go Susan!

  • Dughri

Susan Boyle is great. Journalists today have no training or art. The writer clearly means to say “famous” not “infamous,” but thinks bigger words are better.

  • ReginaldL

    WTH! Susan Boyle “infamous”?

  • WTF

wait a minute this is supposed to be a professional writing staff and they misuse the word infamous? Really EW? You don’t have anyone that finished a high school English class? LMAO

  • GT

A dictionary, Lynette. Buy one. Have it on your desk. Use it occasionally.
Example: The infamous Charles Manson watched Susan Boyle’s now famous performance from his cell.

  • Adam

Am I the only one who thought of J.T’s version when they read “Cry Me A River”. lol Imagine her singing that version.

No, Infamous means that a person is so famous that they are literally “In” famous.

  • Kat

Susan Boyle’s voice is a JOY to my ears! Listening to her sing is almost like praying! In my opinion, she is sure to be the winner on, “Britain’s Got Talent”!!

  • dfd

  • Withnail is a moron

No, “infamous” means “ill famed” or “notorious.” Idiot.

Hey People are you deaf ??? Susan Boyle recording of `Cry Me a River’ is SUPER !!! Few people can sing that song like she does …. Strait up your books in hearing department !!! PLEASE !!!

  • Carlos Lorenzo

I have just listened to this woman once and the pure, exquisite tone color of her voice, the timbre, echoed like thunder on every sensitive cell of my body and soul. I am not a musician but many of us can tell when you are listening to something unique. I watch the video and really enjoyed the sound. Believe I hate these kinds of show but I consider myself fortunate I watched this performance. So, and this is what I wanted to say, I completely disagree with the use of the word “infamous” in this context. I fact I think it must have been some mistake. I think genius must be worshipped.

Susan Boyle has incredible talent. Her voice sounds like a professional singer specially when she sang the ‘cry me a river’ ten years ago.For me, she’s a natural singer.
