YouTube, which is owned by Google, has signed a content deal with several Hollywood movie studios, Reuters reports. Among the studios that will be offering free full-length films and TV shows on YouTube are Sony Pictures, CBS, MGM, Lionsgate, Starz, and the BBC, according to the AP. Google, which bought YouTube for $1.65 billion in 2006, hopes that the new Hollywood content will boost the site’s attractiveness to advertisers. YouTube’s main competitor is Hulu, a streaming-video website owned by NBC Universal and Fox.

Maybe if they didn’t limit videos to under 10 minutes they wouldn’t have had a problem competing against hulu.
