Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince have been magically teleported to July 15 on the release schedule, two days earlier than scheduled, according to AP. It’s the second move for the sixth Potter movie; Warner Bros. originally slated it for debut last fall.

at least this is a positive change though

Yay! I seriously can’t wait for this one. It’s been rough waiting for it, but I can tell it’ll be worth it.
YESSSSSS… that’s 2 days less to wait.
Well it is about time it gets closer. Ever since Twilight scared them out of the fall.
I still feel like Warner Bros made a huge mistake delaying the movie back this far. I am a HUGE HP fan… but for all those extra tickets they’re going to try to sell by making it a summer blockbuster… well frankly I’m not sure those people remember HP anymore! It’s been soooo long =(
Wednesday premiere is smart, especially for a blockbuster like this.

Sean – if you’re going to talk about the reason for HP moving from last fall to this summer, then give the actual reason and not your subjective spin on it (it was not because of Twilight that they moved the date). It was moved for one main reason: the writers strike made it so not that many movies will be premiering this summer, thus allowing HP to make even more money if they moved it to summer. So it basically all comes down one one issue, really: money. And to those who are still complaining about the fall to summer delay, get over it already. It’s been months since the announcement, and you know you will still see it anyway, no matter what some of you say. I’ve gotten over it, and it’s made me even more excited to see it.
Sorry for my rant I just made below. I just am getting tired of people giving unrelated reasons for the release date change. It’s not because of Twilight; it’s not because they wouldn’t have been done editing it; it’s not because it will be a horrible movie; it’s not because David Yates screwed up (we can’t make that judgement yet).
cool. one day before my birthday instead of one day after.
word.
i agree with jeff stop blaming twilight! if warner brothers wanted to keep the same date then they had the power to!
Although I agree with the assertion that it was moved for money reasons, my understanding was that it was because of the Dark Knight. With that movie in the bag, Warner Bros. was set for the year. So why not move their next sure-thing from October to July and guarantee a repeat of summer ’08?
Warner Brothers also did it to make there revenues look better because they would have so much money in 08 but none in 09 because the dark knight made so much money, they didn’t want to have a sudden drop off in 09 with no big blockbuster so they moved it
