Simon Channing-Williams, the longtime producer of movies by filmmaker Mike Leigh, died on Tuesday of cancer at age 64, the BBC is reporting. The Britain-based Channing-Williams earned a Best Picture Oscar nomination for Leigh’s 1996 drama Secrets & Lies. The pair’s 20-year collaboration also spawned the movies High Hopes, Life Is Sweet, Naked, Topsy-Turvy, Vera Drake, and last year’s acclaimed dramedy Happy-Go-Lucky. Channing-Williams also produced 2002′s Nicholas Nickelby and 2005′s The Constant Gardener.
