Madonna says that despite her rejected application to adopt four-year-old Chifundo "Mercy" James, she still wants to "provide [the child] with a home, a loving family environment and the best education and healthcare possible," according to a Malawian newspaper. The BBC says that Madonna told the paper in an e-mail "…It’s my hope that she, like David, will one day return to Malawi and help the people of their country.

That’s great! She can start by sponsering for the girl’s biological family to raise her, since they can’t cause they’re too poor. In Malawi, it would cost less than what Madonna donates to the kabbala center in one year to raise Mercy in comfort to adulthood.
A good future and letting the girl be raised by her own family isn’t mutually exclusive.
