NBC’s aggressive marketing push for the new cop series Southland became front page news, so to speak, when the Los Angeles Times ran a fake article (clearly identified as paid content by an NBC logo and a different typeface) next to its lead stories today, reports TVWeek. The item, headlined "Southland’s Rookie Hero," offers readers a ride-along withnew LAPD officer Ben Sherman (played on the show by The OC‘s Ben McKenzie). Southland, produced by ER‘s John Wells, premieres tonight at 10pm.

Southland is DREADFUL! I’ll probably keep watching to see if it gets any better, but my God, it’s awful. You can watch it already on Hulu, I’m sick of being bombarded with their ads. They must know this show stinks!
If this show sucks, I’m going to be soooo disappointed
I already watched the show on iTunes, and I thought it was an excellent show. It might be too gritty for the public, but I’m sure it will find an audience. I thought it was shot beautifully and the acting was excellent.
As a member of the OC generation, I adore Ben McKenzie. So glad he has another project.
Stephie ………….
You say the show is dreadful but you will watch it again.
………………… Sorry! That makes me laugh.
It was riveting. I liked the format, the slipping back and forth in time. Really good cast, including Regina King, whom I would watch in anything. Can’t wait for next week.
