To everyone complaining about buying the Beatles catalog AGAIN: 1)You don’t have to, no-one’s forcing you to. 2)What about new generations of Beatles fans? Do they have to buy the old poorer-quality CD’s? Why not make re-mastered versions available for those who are (relatively) new to the Beatles’ music? 3) If I feel like spending money again on music I love, whether it’s re-mastered Beatles, Rush, Led Zep, whatever – if I feel there’s real value involved, then I’m not getting “ripped off” (hey, at least I didn’t buy the “American” versions again!). Now when is Columbia finally going to re-master all those Springsteen albums?
I’m all over this, very nice!
I’d love to see all hell break loose when their songs are all over the iTunes top 10.

I have to wonder…are there any Beatles fans under the age of 40? Let me know!

What do you mean for the first time ever they’ll be remastered on CD?! What are you, 12 years old? All of the CDs have been out for about 15 years! Besides, CDs suck. Buy the original vinyl releases if you REALLY want to enjoy good sound.
People….it’s the Fabs…..not just some ordinary band…..their music is timeless and priceless….I have all of their albums on vinyl….all of the CD’s when they first released them on CD and will also buy these when they come out in Sept……guess you could call me a real fan, huh?

Been waiting for this! I’m happy its finally coming.
Entertainment Blogger: Silly question, but I’ll answer it anyway…yes, plenty of people “under 40″ listen to AND LOVE the Beatles. And the Rolling Stones (no matter how many times contemporary music mags would have you believe otherwise). And Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead – do you really think it’s only AARP members who listen to “classic rock” radio stations? (I don’t, but then I’ve always hated commerical radio). I do a lot of community theatre and I’m always surprised (I shouldn’t be) at how many of the high school/college students working crew (sometimes cast members) are totally into the history of rock, not just today’s stuff. When I was growing up, I don’t recall my generation being nearly as interested in big-band swing – some were, but not to the extent that today’s kids are into “classic rock”.
This is good news for Beatles fans. The first CDs were partially started before Martin got there, and some changes were made that shouldn’t. The closest we have are the American mixes, which aren’t the original mixes of the Beatles in a lot of cases. If you want to hear the difference remastering makes, listen to the originals next to Anthology. It’s the first time a master has been made since the first CDs, and it’s going to be well worth it.
To Entertainment Blogger: As a 23 year old Beatles fan, I’m surprised to see that more people don’t realize the impact that the Beatles and other musicians of their generation had on every generation to come. At 16, my younger brother is a huge Led Zepplin/Rolling Stones fan, and I grew up listening to the Beatles, among others, because to be honest, no sound created today is as artful as theirs. Sure, I’m guilty of loving the occassional Top 40 song now and then, but none of that music even compares in quality to the lyrics, musicality, and talent of 1950′s/60′s/70′s artists. Stuart is right– people of my generation (and my brother’s) enjoy not only the music, but the history and events that it represents. Times change, wars end, politicians come and go, and fashion trends become thrift store sale items, but the Beatles and their counterparts are timeless.
George Martin = George Lucas?? Yes, it’s a lame comparison based on the number of times the stuff will be released again and again with tweakage. We’ll be in line to get these new CDs when they arrive. Husband is a Beatles nut who appreciates the recording process nearly as much as the music. And yeah, I’m (slightly) under 40.
