Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Run-DMC will not perform at this weekend’s ceremony. Founding member DMC has told MTV News that they don’t want to play without their DJ, Jam Master Jay, who was murdered in 2002. In the place of a Run-DMC performance the Hall of Fame will screen a video tribute.

This is at it should be. RUN DMC said they wold never perform as RUN DMC again when Jam Master Jay was assasinated. RESPECT.
the pigs in NYC have never even gotten a lead on his murder.
I respect that decision. And I’m slightly disappointed as well.
IMHO they should perform in honor of JMJ. His death should not mean stop them from doing something they enjoyed doing. His death was tragic and it was the end of his life. Not the end of their lives. He is dead, accept it, move on and enjoy your lives.
I totally understand that. It’s like TLC. Yeah they did that little reality show but they were never gonna get back in the studio. TLC is just that and without Lisa, it’s not.
I respect their decision and wonder if they will ever find out who did it. I’ve always wondered if “the streets” took care of whoever did it.
Run-DMC is Run, DMC and Jam Master Jay. To perform without Jay there at the Hall of Fame ceremony would not explain their importance in music. I saw them in concert in 1993 and they were so superb and cohesive together with Run and DMC’s tradeoffs and Jay’s dynamic turntable scratching. I hope they find rare footage in the video tribute.
