Tarantino's 'Basterds' premiering at Cannes

Tagged:

Quentin Tarantino’s WWII film Inglourious Basterds will premiere in competition at the Cannes Film Festival in May, Variety reports.

Brad Pitt stars in the period action-epic, which is set in Nazi-occupied France, and tracks a band of Jewish-American soldiers on a mission to eliminate a group of Nazi soldiers. The movie is due in theaters Aug. 21. Tarantino won the top prize at Cannes, the Palme d’Or, in 1994 for Pulp Fiction. His other films that have debuted at the festival, though not always in competition, include Kill Bill, Death Proof and Reservoir Dogs. He served as president of the festival jury in 2004.
