TLC announced today that Jon & Kate Plus 8 will return for a fifth season. The popular show that attracted record ratings for its March 23 finale will join a busy roster of returning programs, such as 18 Kids and Counting, A Baby Story, American Chopper, What Not to Wear, and Little People, Big World.
The cable network has also introduced a host of new series — more than 19 in all — that will help fill its schedule in the coming year. They include The Little Couple (a series about newlyweds Bill Klein and Jen Arnold, both of whom are under 4-feet tall); Freakin Fabulous With Clinton Kelly (a fashion show based on his book of the same name); Making Over America With Trinny & Susannah (featuring the original U.K. hosts of What Not to Wear), The General (featuring an interior-designer-turned-contractor), and Mom, Inc. (a new series from Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos that helps struggling entrepreneurs).

I enjoy Jon & Kate plus 8 as much as the next casual viewer of the show; but 18 Kids and Counting just makes me sick. I feel so sorry for those older kids that are raising their younger siblings. Those parents are teaching those children nothing that will help them cope in the real world. While teaching respect and good manners is excellent I feel the parents of those 18 kids are indoctrinating those children with such woefully outdated social norms that when they reach the real world they will not be able to cope and will suffer from real emotional issues. Do those parents plan on keeping those 18 kids sheltered for their entire lives?
BTW, totally love that Clinton Kelly is getting his own show. I cannot get enough of Stacy and Clinton! (Now if only they’d get rid of Carmondy.)
The Duggar family from 18 Kids and Counting is part of the Quiverfull movement. Super super creepy…

Wow, why would the network allow these types of shows (jon&kate/dugan family) who cares how many children you have. Please stop showing them, this is why the Oct mom is trying to make easy money because of shows like these.

I remember seeing one of the younger boys crying because he wanted to go to the store too and the mom didn’t even pick him up and talk to him about what was really happening. the sister in charge of him had to.
She is not nurturing these babies. Just have another you are one short.

Kate is a great mother, and one of her kids did not get married. you are thinking of the show 18 kids and counting, so maybe you should get your facts straight.

Jon and Kate Plus 8 would be great without Kate. She looks down upon everyone and everything that doesn’t suit her…even her own husband. She wants to give her children experiences but I hope she doesn’t give them her piss poor attitude.
Big surprise. How are they going to pay for that big new spread they just bought and all that acreage if they don’t keep doing the show? I think the person who posted about Divorce Court could be on to something. I don’t think Jon can take Kate’s abuse and belittling much longer before something breaks.
The kids are great though and even though I dislike the fact the parents are taking advantage of the situation to make millions, I do enjoy watching the kids. Hopefully, they are being responsible and creating college funds or a trust for the kids so they have something to show for all of this publicity in 14 years or so.
My girls and I LOVE Jon and Kate plus Eight! What a great show. Would love to see them sometime! I grew up in a big family and it brings back memories. Those little ones are adorable. We love Cara especially MADY!!!
I agree, the show would be better without Kate. She is a horribly negative person. And if you watch the show regularly you will notice that Mady (one of the older twins) is miserable and needs more attention.
