A high-quality, full-length version of what is being touted as a workprint version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine has leaked online and has been available for download on several bittorrent sites since Tuesday. Several sources say the movie has been downloaded more than 75,000 times already. The bootleg copy is said to be a DVD-quality version of 20th Century Fox’ssummer tentpole without a timecode or studio watermark, though it is also being described many places as an "early version" of the movie with some effects shots unfinished. Reviews of the movie based on the leak are also cropping up across the Internet. The film, which stars Hugh Jackman, is not scheduled to release until May 1.

Although the economy stinks, and I’d love to save myself the 10 bucks it’ll cost me to see the new X-men flick in theaters — I’d much rather wait and see it completed and in full effect on the big screen.

Anybody who would rather see an unfinished movie that lacks many special effects and a couple scenes instead of watching it finished on the big screen, just so they can brag to their friends and on message boards that they saw the bootleg early, is the idiot.
Honestly, I saw the links online (and no, you DON’T have to download it to watch it) and thought it was a joke. But really, it wasn’t, and the first half looked horrible. It wasn’t something I could get into, too much too quickly, or something like that. It simply wasn’t engaging.
Though I agree with what’s been said. Heads WILL roll over this.

HA! HA! LOL! As many people know Tom Rothman is the biggest tool in the entertainment industry. Why he even still has a job at FOX is beyond me! The trash that FOX has released over the past few years is pathetic. If something good comes out of this like Rothman finally getting the boot then hats off to the person who uploaded this workprint! I’ll definitely be downloading this, skimming through the trainwreck and promptly deleting it as it undeniably won’t be worth the space on my HD finished or unfinished.

It’s the real deal. The movie isn’t bad at all. It’s not great but it’s a lot of fun and fans will dig it. Will I be spending $10 on it? Hell no.
I’m waiting for theatres. Hell, even if I did watch this and didn’t like it, I’d still be there on May 1 because this isn’t the finished version and movies can change immensely with a few edits etc. Don’t DL this and wait out the month. *Snickt*

Actually, people who would really watch such a copy is in the minority. The majority pay in some form to watch the finished and better quality version. If this wasn’t true, movies would not be made any more.

Why are so many people, yourself included, so insistant that Watchmen was a complete financial failure? I know Watchmen’s box office was a slight disappointment after all the hype around it, but to call it a box office bomb after the movie made $100 million is utterly ridiculous.
Well, taking in $100 million, relative to what it cost to make the movie, wouldn’t make it a “success” at this point either. I don’t know what Watchmen has taken in, either in the U.S. or globally, but it needs to make quite a lot just to break in. Remember, it’s not enough to make back the cost. What it takes in gets split with the theatres, and often doesn’t include marketing costs. In this case, there’s also the matter of WB and Paramount each having a stake in the film, plus WB owes Fox a share. Given that, and the lukewarm critical response, once could easily say Watchmen has been something of a dud. WB’s probably going to need to hope for strong DVD sales (and more sales of the original book) for them to get their costs back.

Only one video from the leaked version hit youtube and it was the final battle. The effects were crappy and it confirmed the much heard about disservice to deadpool that they have done. WTH!

Yeah, I assumed as such before making my previous statement. Watchmen’s box office revenue isn’t exactly representative of a glamoring success, but with 100 million in the bank, it’s not the equivalent of a collosal failure either. I’d say it’s more of a near-miss than an all out dud. Although I get your point, I’m tired of hearing the film did horribly when it came to revenue. Unsuccessful or even subpar, but not an outright hit-rock-bottom loss.

All this talk of minority and what not, since this has been released it has been downloaded a total of 6073 times from one single website alone. Clearly there is an audience for this unfinished work print that according to some on these messages boards nobody wants to see.
The movie even in rough draft is excellent. This is what I think we’ve all wanted from the X-Men. Even if you watch this I think you’ll still want to see it in the theatre. If you don’t know about the story of Wolverine then wait for the official release because you will ruin what I have no doubt will be the best Marvel Movie ever.

AICN is also saying that the work print is also missing 14 mins of film from re-shoots. I haven’t watched the leaked cut yet but I know I would have a hard time judging something that wasn’t an end product.
