Tyra Banks to talk about abuse, appear on 'Oprah'

After recently admitting that she’s secretly jealous of Oprah Winfrey, Tyra Banks is joining forces with the talk-show diva over the Rihanna-Chris Brown abuse scandal. Winfrey will air a live episode on dating violence this Thursday. Now, the Associated Press reports, Banks will both appear on that live episode of Oprah — taking about a time when she was emotionally abused by a man she was dating — and will air her own pre-taped episode, on teen dating violence, on The Tyra Banks Show the same day.

Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston cancel their engagement

Bristol Palin, 18-year-old daughter of former Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin, has called off her engagement to Levi Johnston, the 19-year-old father of their newborn son, Tripp, People.com is reporting. The young couple shot to notoriety during last year’s presidential campaign, and became the target of many comedians, including Tina Fey in a Saturday Night Live satire of the VP debate between Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and then-Sen. Joe Biden. In the skit, Fey, as Palin, said she was against gay marriage because she believed marriage was "a sacred institution between two unwilling teenagers." About the split, Bristol told the Associated Press that she was "devastated." Johnston said the breakup was a mutual decision.

Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams get married

After a month-long engagement, Mandy Moore is now married to Ryan Adams, according to Moore’s publicist. The 24-year-old singer-actress and 34-year-old singer-songwriter were wed in a small ceremony yesterday in Savannah, Ga. Perez Hilton first reported the news, which was confirmed by People.com.

Skeet Ulrich to star in CBS pilot 'Back'

Skeet Ulrich has got CBS’ Back: The former Jericho star will headline a drama pilot about a man who shows up at home, only to find out that he was reported missing on Sept. 11, 2001, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Chicago, Hairspray) are exec producing the project. In related Jericho news, the twice-canceled show will continue its story in comic book form.

Chris Brown withdraws from Kids' Choice Awards

Chris Brown has taken his name out of consideration for Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards, the Associated Press and other news outlets are reporting. The embattled pop star, who was charged last week with two felony counts stemming from a February incident in which his girlfriend Rihanna was allegedly attacked, had been nominated for favorite male singer and best song awards for the March 28 show. The nominations were handed out shortly before Brown’s Feb. 8 arrest, and debate had stirred in recent weeks over whether he should be a part of the Nickelodeon event. In a statement, Brown’s representatives said that while the singer can’t speak directly with his fans because of the criminal case against him, he thanks them for their support.

Prince to do three-night stint on 'The Tonight Show'

Following U2′s five consecutive appearances on Late Show With David Letterman, Prince has announced he’ll perform on three episodes of The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, beginning March 25. The musician has two studio albums, LOtUSFLOW3R and MPLSoUND, set for release on March 29.

U2's 'No Line on the Horizon' bests Taylor Swift on album chart

The numbers are in: after a whirlwind week of publicity (including a $3.99 campaign on Amazon.com and five straight nights performing on David Letterman), U2′s latest album, No Line on the Horizon, topped the Billboard 200 with 484,000 copies sold, ending Taylor Swift’s long reign in first place. It is Bono and company’s seventh No. 1 album, and the highest first-week sales for an artist since Britney Spears’ Circus moved 505,000 in December. Most significantly, U2 is now tied for second (with Led Zeppelin) for second most No. 1 albums by a band, behind only The Beatles. No Line on the Horizon is the group’s first record since 2004′s How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, which also debuted at No. 1 and sold 840,000 in its first week.

Jennifer Aniston's 'The Baster': Jeff Goldblum joins the comedy

Actor Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park) will join Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman in the romantic comedy, The Baster, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Goldblum is slated to play the business partner and confidant of Bateman’s character, who secretly fathers his female best friend’s child when he replaces her artificial insemination sample with his own. Directed by Blades of Glory‘s Will Speck and Josh Gordon, the
film is set to begin shooting in New York this spring.

NBC plans 'Road Trip' reality series for this summer

THR.com reports that NBC has jumped on the reality-shows-involving-cars bandwagon with Great American Road Trip, a competition series in which seven families will drive cross-country to popular destinations like the Grand Canyon and the Washington Monument. Based on performances in challenges, one family will be eliminated each week. Last month, ABC announced Crash Course, in which contestants navigate an obstacle course in cars. CBS had just recently greenlit Thunder Road, a similarly themed reality show executive-produced by McG. Vroom.

Stephen Colbert wants own NASA-sanctioned room in space

Stephen Colbert has urged members of the Colbert Nation (a.k.a. people who watch Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report) to write his name in on an online NASA poll that will determine the name of the international space station’s new room. The official options on the poll are Earthrise, Legacy, Serenity, and Venture. If Colbert doesgain enough votes to win, NASA could overrule the decision. The contest’s voting rules state "the results are not binding and NASA reserves theright to ultimately select a name in accordance with the best interestsof the agency, its needs and other considerations." Voting is open until March 20.
