Holt McCallany, who played renowned boxing trainer Teddy Atlas in the HBO movie Tyson, will star in FX’s upcoming drama pilot Lights Out, about an aging former heavyweight boxing champion who needs another big payday to support his family before pugilistic dementia overtakes his brain for good. THR.com reports that Lights Out director Clark Johnson, who helmed episodes of The Shield and The Wire, likened McCallany’s casting to that of Michael Chiklis in The Shield. "[McCallany] could be the next Jon Hamm," said Johnson.

Jade Goody, U.K. reality TV star, dies at 27
British reality star Jade Goody has lost her very public battle with cervical cancer, EW confirms. The 27-year-old died in her sleep at home in Essex, England, early Sunday morning. She leaves behind husband Jack Tweed, whom she married in a lavish, filmed ceremony last month; and two children, Bobby, 5, and Freddie, 4, from a previous relationship with TV host Jack Brazier.
A favorite British tabloid figure, the former nurse rose to fame on the British version of Big Brother in 2002, polarizing audiences with her brash manner. She didn’t win, but she became a celebrity with her own perfume, fitness video, and autobiography. She revived her waning career with a 2007 appearance on celebrity Big Brother along with her mom and then-boyfriend Tweed — when she evicted after being accused of making racist comments about a costar, Indian actress Shilpa Shetty. But by last year, she was courting fame yet again, signing up for India’s Big Brother. It was two days into that show that her cancer diagnosis was revealed on air. And she continued to welcome the public attention until the end, even causing what the British media dubbed the "Jade Goody effect," an increase in cervical cancer screenings.
