Rihanna cooperating with Los Angeles District Attorney

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office confirms that Rihanna is working with prosecutors in their case against Chris Brown, who has been charged with felony counts of assault and making criminal threats for allegedly attacking her. A rep for the L.A. D.A.’s office told EW via email today: "We have been dealing with her attorney who has said she is a cooperatingvictim." The statement refutes reports that circulated over the weekend saying the singer was not cooperating. Brown’s rescheduled arraignment will take place April 6, but Rihanna is not required to attend. –Additional reporting by Margeaux Watson

Chris Brown is a monster that should be locked up in jail. He does not belong among decent society. There is NEVER an excuse for a man to beat and batter a woman. This is not love. Chris Brown was raised to become the monster that he is. His mother should be proud. He is never going to change. Some day he will kill Rihanna or some other woman that mistakes abuse for love. Lock him up and throw away the key.

Her cooperating and her lawyer saying that she’s cooperating are not the same thing. I sure hope she really is.

I work with the young children of domestic violence victims, and Chris Brown has become the very thing that he likely feared the most as a child. It will take a commitment to real change and years of therapeutic work for him to change his patterns. It truly disgusts me how many people have attempted to justify and/or downplay his actions. He was a victim who has grown up to be a perpetrater. As for Rihanna, I hope that she learns that violence does not equate to love, or she, too, will repeat the same cycle.

Rihanna completely fits the profile of an abused woman, down to her reunited with Chris Brown. She doesn’t deserve the verbal attacks she’s gotten — she needs help.
