'Twilight' sequel 'New Moon' casts Caius

Categories: Film, Twilight

British actor Jamie Campbell-Bower has been cast as Volturi leader Caius in the Twilight sequel New Moon. The 20-year-old Taylor Hanson-lookalike, whose credits include RocknRolla and Sweeney Todd, tells BBC News that he will head to the set in June. "I do know who else will be in it — but I can’t tell you, unfortunately," he said. "Butgo online and have a look at the rumors…. They’re all false. You’re putting me in a terrible situation."

I think he’s a great choice. He was very good in Sweeney Todd :)

  • FINALLY they get something right!

PERFECT CASTING! he was amazing in sweeney todd!

  • Jen

Do the vampire leaders really need to look like tweens? The characters are supposed to be badasses, and this guy looks like he’s all of 12. Like he would be swinging his arms at you wildly while you hold him back with your hand on his forehead.

Congrats to you! This is like finding a golden ticket.

Great choice. I think the second movie will be better then the first.

Must be a busy newsday elsewhere, this is only the 10th Twilight related article EW was able to fit in today.

I have such a great feeling that NM will be amazing. I love everything that Chris has said and done so far. :)

    Color me worried…
Don’t get me wrong. I have complete faith in Jamie’s acting capabilities, and I love that they went with a not so known actor to play the part. My one and only hang up is that he’s sooo young… I’ve always pictured the Volturi as older men(when I say older I mean my age, early to mid-thirties). But! In the same breath I will say that I believe in Chris Weitz, and I have a feeling that his vision for New Moon will take the saga to greater heights.

AWESOME choice. Can’t wait to see who else pops up.

Aren’t the Volturi supposed to appear slightly older than the rest of them? JCB is a good actor, i loved him in Sweeney Todd, but I don’t think he fits the build of Caius.

  • beelkay

Not what I was expecting for one of the Volturi…I would have gone with someone who was in their forties or fifties, at least. I’m sure they’ll do a lot of makeup, but still…

  • Nerwen Aldarion

I agree, I always pictured the Volturi older but hey Vampires are supposed to be gorgeous too, we’ll see where this goes. Remember this time when Rob was cast, everyone hated him but now…. I want to know who’s playing Aro, he’s my favorite Volturi.

Shamrock if you don’t like them, then don’t read them! But stop commenting on them if you have nothing worthwhile to contribute!

  • anthoy

he was very good in sweeny todd… but i did picture them a little older… like carlisle’s age

  • miket

Hopefully it won’t be as boring and suck as bad as Twilight did!

  • Angela

I never expected Caius to look like a baby… as old as Carlisle looks at least… perhaps they are gearing the movie towards tweens now?

  • breanne

definitely hoping NM will be better that twilight. i wasn’t expecting a guy to play caius to look like him. he looks young.

  • Kats

I thought he looked much older than his 20 years in Sweeney Todd so I’m sure he will be great.

  • Annie

When I saw his pic, my first thought was that they had cast him as Alec.

  • jessica

i also think he looks very young. but they will probably have ways to look much older on screen. Cant wait to see it!!!

  • Jennifer

Thank you Angela…..I was hoping for an adult around Carlisle’s age if not older. This kid couldn’t even order a drink in this country. He looks like a high school kid. Jamie was very good in Sweeney Todd but I don’t see him as a member of the Volturi.

  • Sam

Terrible mistake!! I thought he was going to play Alec! Caius had to be older!

  • MeMe

I think Ben Barnes should be Aro or Marcus. But I don’t see this kid as the right actor for Caius. I agree, he’s way to young. Someone more in mid twenty’s at least 22-25yrs old. I think he might be ok for Jans brother Alec.

  • Anisa

OMG! He ca SO pull it off! This kid is super amazing! I am so excited! I can’t wait to see what he makes of it! Can’t wait for New Moon!!!

  • Heather

I always envisioned Aro Caius and Marcus being much older looking, but I am not going to judge until I see the movie. He apparently impressed them which is the reason he was cast.

  • Michelle

I always picture Caius to around the same age as Carlisle! That kid is way too young. I don’t know if I want to see who they got for Aro and Marcus!

  • Carolyn

This guy should have been alec – caius? To me, Olivier Martinez should be one of the three – I’m surprised we haven’t heard that yet!

  • Priscilla

He seems young for the Caius I had in mind, but other than that, he’ll probably be a very good Caius.

  • Jahaiya

    what?!?!
he would be a PERFECT alec.
but aro, caius & marcus should be around the same age as carlisle, well thats how I pictured it!!
hope this rumor is wrong and he plays alec!

  • Kelly

Does anyone else feel like the element of surprise is being taken away from this movie by all the casting announcements? I know I know stop reading them but still, I think half the fun is the sense of unknown.
