Marvel Studios is looking for a few good screenwriters

Tags:

Marvel Studios, the home of Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk plans to bulk up its ranks — and generate ideas — by hiring a handful of screenwriters to participate in an in-house writers program, an insider confirms to EW. (Deadline Hollywood Daily first reported the story.) The plan is to have scribes (possibly including comic-book writers, who are encouraged to apply) write exclusively for Marvel during the one-year term of the gig and give the studio right of first refusal on any of their past or near-future projects.

And all the writers have to do is sell their souls to Marvel.
Who would want to sign up for this? So Marvel can make low-ball offers to writers just as they do to actors?
And they get first rights to any other work done by said writers too… wow, talk about bullsh*t. They could agree to your other work, then make a low-ball offer which you would refuse, and then that work would remain in limbo for years unless you agree to their offer. Besides, all the good superheroes are already spoken for… who the hell wants to write about Thor?

I have this feeling that the studios are all going to start doing crap like this in order to get scripts as cheaply as possible. Hell, they are giving a Ronald Moore script to a nobody for a rewrite. I understand the need for these studios to keep costs down, but come on, why should we the public, the fans, suffer so that the big wigs who don’t do a damn thing can get their bonuses? You can make all the fuss about if there is no profit, there will be no movie, but how often is cheap chosen over quality just so giant bonuses can be awarded. Too bad they don’t trust us enough to let us support quality. It is the same problem the music industry has, too many people who don’t do a damn thing with their hand out. I want to know how much the lawyers for the RIAA make, cos their salaries have to be cutting deep into any profit any company could hope to make.

Ron Moore is a douche. People think he’s so smart but he’s really just an average schmuck. Several of his movie scripts had to be rewritten because they were garbage.

Umm… Marvel, I have a soul here, I hear you’re looking to trade them for writing jobs. Do I have to sign anything? No… just the soul then. OK. Are there benefits? No… OK. Yeah, I’m still interested. Just the soul, you don’t need a firstborn son or anything?
    Fair trade.

lets say someone made a really good fan film to display there skills and what they are able to put together on thier own working from nothing but actually pulling off something quite impressive. what be some good options as to how to get the right people at marvel studios to actually view it not as a submission but as a video resume? anyone have some names that they might know of to get it to. i know trying to get ahold of kevin feige is probably out of the question, but just someone that has some pull would probably work just as good. id appreciate any feedback.thanks
