Actors’ Equity and the producers of the Broadway revival of David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow have agreed to an arbitration date to settle the much-publicized dispute over Jeremy Piven’s early departure from the play. The matter will be heard by an arbitrator in New York on June 8-9, the play’s producers said in a statement today. Piven, the Emmy-friendly star of Entourage, exited the production in December, 10 weeks early, citing health concerns related to mercury poisoning, which Piven said he got from eating fish. In the statement, the producers noted that they have requested "a wide range of relevant information" from Piven about his "alleged illness," including "medical records and documentation of Mr. Piven’s activities both during and after the run of the show." They also proposed that all information supplied be "subject to a strict confidentiality agreement."
