Zac Efron, who recently passed on Paramount’s remake of Footloose, is currently negotiating with New Line/Warner Bros. to star in an adaptation of the novel "The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud,” according to Variety.
Efron will play a cemetery caretaker who communes with his dead brother, whose death he feels he caused. Based on the novel by Ben Sherwood, a former producer at Good Morning America, and helmed by Efron’s 17 Again director Burr Steers, the film is scheduled for a July start date.
Zac? Really??? Sounds a little above him. I’ll be happy to eat these words. See shall see.
I hope he gets this type of roles/projects. Can’t wait for the confirmation. Good move for him to decline Footloose.

I am no High School Musical fan freak like a lot of the people who post messages pertaining to Efron’s talent. But all gay jokes aside, this guy really is something. He’s got the making (and by that I mean the glance, edge, brain, and intelligent charisma) to really, really go deep into acting. I exaggerate not in the least when I say that he really could be the next Brad Pitt – a popular and capable actor.
I can’t wait to see this. I’m sure that Zac will do a great job. He is so very talented. I wonder who they will get to play Tess. Maybe Amanda Bynes, Michelle Trachtenberg, Emma Roberts, or Hayden Panettiere?

Zac has LOTS of charisma and talent. One has to be blind not to see it. He is sweet and charming, has good manners too. All of you people who say that Zac is not talented – I’d like to see you do what he does. Sounds like you’re just jealous.
Zac Ephron was born to do a Footloose remake. I don’t even care about him so much, but I would have seen that for sure. What a party pooper.
I think he’s going to join the long line of Disney child stars that never made the leap to adult fame. I hope I’m wrong.
